We are looking for an Apprentice Chef (Restaurant/Bistro) to join our team.

  • Preparation and presentation of food
  • Organising food storage before and after service
  • Cook following menu specifications
  • Cook all dishes to quality and quantities required
  • Ensure all hygiene standards are maintained in accordance with company policy * Ensure health and safety standards are met
  • Any other duties relevant to business requirements

Whilst you are employed as an Apprentice Chef you will work towards achieving a Level 2 Commis Chef Apprenticeship delivered in the workplace by Babcock Training who will encourage and support you throughout.

Apprentices will be paid £6 per hour for the duration of apprenticeship, or for the first 12 months if 19 or older.

Presentable, articulate, enthusiastic, assured. A love for cooking and willingness to learn.

Things to consider  

This role requires you to stand for extended periods of time and ensuring a professional appearance in a clean uniform are also required.
Assist with cleaning as well as preparing and presenting food..
Must have eligibility to work in the UK and speak a good level of English language.
Whilst on an apprenticeship an apprentice is entitled to an NUS card

Level 2 Commis Chef Apprenticeship.
Apprenticeship standards are aimed at developing skills within the Apprentices chosen career route, each standard has set knowledge, skills and behaviours required to be successful within the job role. This will include the completion of functional skills in Maths and English.
Once the apprentice has completed a minimum of 12 months training and the employer and Babcock regional trainer confirm they have met all the requirements of the standard they will be put through to end point assessment. The end point assessment is independent from the training and includes a variety of assessment methods which test the skills and knowledge of the apprentice to ensure they are fully competent in their role.
Each Apprentice will be supported throughout the apprenticeship by a structured programme of teaching, e-learning, face to face training and workplace mentoring; this will encourage and help them to meet the requirements of the new standards and will prepare them for the end of point assessment.
