Job Details

ELFT has long been recognised as a centre of excellence for mental and health care, innovation and improvement. So it is a very exciting time for you to come and work for us. Our mission is to make a positive difference to people's lives by improving quality of life for all we serve. Our values are: We Care, We Respect, We are Inclusive - so we are looking for people who live and breathe these qualities when supporting service users and carers, and in their relationships with colleagues in the Trust and our partner organisations.

Do you have a real desire to gain experience in a community mental health setting and become a skilled and valued member of the MDT? If so we may have just the opening for you!

Due to internal development, a number of exciting new opportunities have arisen for band 5 occupational therapist roles within the following working age community teams:

Luton Community Mental Health Teams, Charter House, Alma Street, Luton LU1 2PJ

Ampthill Community Mental Health Team, Meadow Lodge, Froghall Road, MK45 1AB

Bedford Community Mental Health Team Florence Ball House, Kimbolton Road, Bedford MK40 2PU

We have successfully established a Band 5 Development Programme which enables Band 5 OTs to work towards developing the skills required to practice as a Band 6 OT over the course of 18-months. Throughout your employment, you will be supported by an experienced Senior OT to develop a personalized CPD plan, with the aim of enabling you to develop the knowledge, skills and experience of a senior practitioner.

You should have some demonstrable experience of working within a mental health setting and with adults with mental health needs as well as an ability to independently carry an OT clinical caseload.

You will offer specialist occupational therapy interventions utilizing the Model of Human Occupation and have the opportunity to implement group-based programs with other OT colleagues. The OT assessments and interventions will be recovery-focused and client-centered, supporting and enabling the person to achieve their goals in self-care, productivity, and leisure.

You will work within the already well-established multi-disciplinary team to develop the role of Occupational Therapy, and to enhance the OT service provision through 1:1 intervention, group work, and enabling clients in accessing relevant local community resources.

A planned, supportive induction period will be developed to enable you to reach your full potential in your role. If you have not yet completed your preceptorship, we will support you to complete one. Regular managerial and professional supervision will be provided and you will have monthly opportunities to participate in the services OT CPD events and shape service development through quality improvement. Professional development and training are actively encouraged through the appraisal process.

Benefits of working for the Trust include a Holiday of a Lifetime Scheme, Employee Assistance Programme (EAP), Child care vouchers, Relocation packages and Wellbeing sessions.

All inquiries are welcome. For further details please contact: Danielle Maule, Head OT for Working-Age Community Mental Health Services, on 07827 939209 or via email at:
