Pre-Registration Pharmacy Technician Apprentice

The pharmacy team is an award winning, pioneering department that has been a leader in the implementation of several IT solutions, based primarily at Springfield Hospital in Tooting.

About the role:

This is a new role training as an apprentice to be a registered Pharmacy Technician both in primary and secondary care - at South West London & St George's Mental Health trust and with Barrons Chemist. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone interested in a pharmacy career to 'earn while they learn' in different NHS settings to complete a qualification/programme and register as a Pharmacy Technician.

You will be given the opportunity to develop your skills to their full potential whilst undertaking a two-year training program working towards a BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Technicians. You will be provided with the training and support you need to become a registered Pharmacy Technician with the GPhC.

You will need to be enthusiastic, reliable, committed to learning, highly organised, motivated, possess good interpersonal & communication skills. You will need to be able to demonstrate good time management skills and be capable of meeting multiple deadlines.

You will undertake, on a rotational basis, a wide range of duties which includes dispensing for in-patients, out-patients, supply of medicines to wards, supply of clozapine to clinics, procurement and stock control, ward-based services and medicines management both at the Trust sites and with our partner site in community pharmacy.

Candidates must have a minimum of 4 GCSEs or equivalent at Grade C/Level 4 ( C ) or above and must include Maths, English Language and Science (Double Science award or two individual Sciences e.g. biology, chemistry, physics).

It is essential that certificates are provided at the interview stage or prior in order to be verified. Candidates must also meet the eligibility criteria for Apprenticeships.

You must also have either successfully achieved the relevant units of pharmacy services skills NVQ level 2 (QCF) or relevant units of a GPhC accredited training programme of equivalent level to pharmacy service skills NVQ level 2 (QCF).

This is a 2 year fixed term contract - starting 21st February 2022
Salary (Incl. high cost supplement):

Year 1 - 70% of Band 4

Year 2 - 75% of Band 4 (pending completion of Year 1)
