Porro is a friendly run local restaurant, sitting in the heart of the bustling Landaff village, serving Modern British cuisine inspired by Italian cooking. There are set menu's and daily specials to keep the food options varied and interesting. Sunday Lunch and breakfasts are also served, and are very popular.

Job description  

A Food and Beverage Service Apprentice is required for Porro a busy restaurant, serving great Italian food. Experience is not essential for this role, as it is a friendly restaurant where full training will be given whilst on the job. The Apprentice will cover all aspects of working front of house.

You will join a close-knit team, working as a team to serve up great food and drinks in a fun, friendly atmosphere. The successful candidate will be working towards gaining a Food and Beverage Apprenticeship.

30 Hours 5 Days out of 7 various shifts including weekends

   What will your day-to-day duties involve?

  • Serving alcoholic and soft and hot drinks
  • Taking food and drink orders, food orders are taken to the kitchen
  • Serving customers
  • Maintaining a high level of customer service at all times
  • Clearing tables and keeping general area clean
  • You will be expected to take payments
  • Ensure you meet requirements in respect of COSHH, Licensing Laws, Food Safety and Health & Safety regulations are adhered to and any incidents are reported in line with procedures
  • You will also be required to keep up to date with all Apprenticeship work, and to have regular meetings (every 4-6 weeks) with the Regional Trainer to discuss your work

Vacancy could potentially lead into full-time permanent employment or progression within a company on completion of the Apprenticeship.

Skills required  

•Proactive approach to work and able to work on their own initiative as well as in a team
•Confident in dealing with members of the public
•Experience of taking orders is an advantage but not essential
•Good communication skills
•Able to provide excellent customer service

Qualifications required  

Full training will be delivered whilst on the job, to sit alongside the Level 2 Food and Beverage Services apprenticeship

Things to consider  

Please note you could be asked to interview earlier than date given, as the date is a general guide, once we have found the right applicant we will close the position.
