Vacancy Description:

The primary purpose of this role is to deliver and operate platform service capabilities within IRESS. This helps ensure IRESS products and solutions are delivered and operated consistently to support our existing software solutions, as well as provide a platform for innovation and future software propositions. The role is part of a global team and will take a global perspective in their daily work. The role requires skills in software engineering, software architecture, cloud architectures, infrastructure architecture, teamwork, and communication skills. Whilst these are essential skills for an engineer at the apprentice level. These skills will be acquired as part of working alongside existing engineers in the Platform Engineering team. A first-class attitude to learning, being collaborative, having good communication skills, and a ‘can do’ approach is essential.


  • Support the delivery of platform services and capabilities that enable speed, scale, and quality, supporting the global IRESS platform
  • Promotes relevant reuse or consistent patterns for cross-platform, cross-product services
  • Recognises opportunities to promote existing product-centric capabilities into shared platform capabilities
  • Maintaining systems and applications
  • Attending daily stand up to sync up with the team to make sure they are doing the most impactful work, asking for help if needed, and share progress
  • Collaborating with your team (pair programming, daily stand-ups) and wider teams within the company; software engineers often work very closely with Product and Design teams
  • Thoroughly test new features or developments to make sure they perform the desired task correctly in all cases
  • Providing technical support to colleagues

  • Logical problem solver with a keen eye for the finer details?
  • Curious, with a hunger for not just fixing problems but exploring why and how things happen.
  • 3 months prior coding experience (preferable)

Entry requirements:

You need to have 5 GCSEs:

  • Maths and English (or equivalents) at grades D or above
  • 3x GCSE’s grade A-C in any other subject

You must not already have a qualification in a similar subject at the same level, or higher level than this apprenticeship.

If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications. Find out more here.

Working week:

5 days per week,
Monday – Friday,
37.5hrs per week [all details will be confirmed with the employer]


You will be paid £307.69 per week whilst in your apprenticeship.
