Overview:

Apprenticeship to develop and learn how to provide a timely, effective, and professional planning service fulfilling a project planning and coordination function.

Key skills to develop and learn:
  • Competent in all aspects of planning and project control with a proven understanding of planning and rescheduling techniques
  • Understand what makes each project tick and establish programmes for the full project cycle around key milestones and relative constraints
  • Identification of project risk including critical path and earned value analysis
  • Experience in the installation and commissioning of pipework services
  • Good construction knowledge
  • Experienced in a wide range of contracts and work types
  • Good communicator
  • Team player
  • Able to manage multiple projects of a relatively small value often working on an autonomous basis
  • Good time and workload management
  • Provide high quality information within deadlines
  • Empathy with other departments and projects
  • Proactive interaction with other departments
  • Competent in the use of Microsoft office software
  • Competent in the use of planning software i.e., Asta powerproject

Progressive Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide leadership for the planning and coordination process
  • Develop and maintain the project schedule to include resource histograms and expenditure profiles as required, and in accordance with the guidelines set down by the Society of Construction Law, Delay and Disruption Protocol
  • Agree with the project team a logical sequence of events ensuring that the most economical / advantageous strategy is adopted
  • Ensure that this strategy is communicated to all members of the project team.
  • Ensure that all programme activities are fully coded in line with the company WBS and in compliance with the project requirements
  • Baseline and analyse project progress and performance producing accurate projections, adding actual 'as built' information for record purposes
  • Implement and maintain the requirements of the Project Business Plan
  • Co-ordinate with stakeholders, partners and the supply chain
  • Perform other duties as may be required by the project / business


Requirements and prospects

Desired skills

Educated to GCSE Level, excellent computer skills to include working knowledge of Microsoft word, excel and a good typing speed

Personal qualities

Clear, effective communicator, on the phone, in writing and in person, self motivated, responsible approach, trustworthy, enthusiastic, team player, relationship builder with internal clients and excellent computer skills.

Desired qualifications

  • A Level DD
  • BTEC National Diploma PPP
  • Access to HE Diploma with 21 Merits
  • Level 3 Apprenticeship in related subject
  • Equivalent level 3 qualifications worth 64 UCAS points
  • 5 GCSE's including Maths and English (C or above) or equivalent
  • Or equivalents
