About our Trust

Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust provide services from two main hospitals, Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and West Middlesex University Hospital, and a number of clinics across London and the South-East. We have over 6,000 members of staff that are PROUD to Care for nearly one million people. Both hospitals provide full clinical services, including full maternity, emergency and children's, in addition to a range of community-based services across London, such as award-winning sexual health and HIV clinics.

We're one of the best performing Trusts in the country. We're also one of the top trusts to work for - our staff say they're engaged, motivated, and would recommend us as a place to work and receive treatment. Our Trust has been rated by the Care Quality Commission as 'Good' in all five of the main domains of safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led, giving an us overall rating of 'Good'. We've also been awarded an 'Outstanding' rating for 'use of resources' by an NHS Improvement inspection.

Our vision is to be the No 1 employer nationally, where every member of staff has the best possible experience when working here. We can achieve this when we listen to our staff and act on their feedback. We have an ambitious agenda which is to deliver outstanding care to our patients in a workplace that is dynamic, inclusive, innovative, and demonstrates our PROUD to Care values.

These are both exciting and challenging times for the Trust and our partners, in particular for the people agenda. The organisation is one of the highest performing acute Trusts in the country and has many impressive people metrics - however we still have much to do. The board and the executive team are excited and motivated about us doing more for our people.

The Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated consultant to join our department. This will be a 3 month renewable contract up to 1 year in total. The successful candidate will cover general theatre lists as well as labour ward, and may have the opportunity to participate in general on-calls once fully orientated to the department.

Depending on workload and departmental needs, the post may be extended beyond the original period.

This is a full time post (10PA), which equates to 7 half day sessions per week of clinical care without on-call. There is a 4 week working pattern with one in four weeks having 4 sessions during the week and a weekend trauma list that is remunerated as 3 sessions. The week day sessions are typically delivered flexibly, although the department may be able to accommodate some requests with regards to work pattern.

If the opportunity arises during their contract to participate in the on-call rota then anaesthetic sessions within working hours would be adjusted accordingly to remain as a 10 PA job plan.

Separate on-call rotas are operated for general (including labour ward), paediatric anaesthesia and Intensive Care.
