We have the rare opportunity to expand our Clinical Lead workforce within our Older People's Services which have built an excellent reputation across Gateshead for providing high quality, specialist mental health care to individuals who cannot be supported in their current placement.

You will be working within Briarwood, which is one of our 24-hour specialist care units for older people. Briarwood offers two kinds of service, but you will be working as part of the supportive rehabilitation service, which supports people who have complex mental health problems. Our building is well-equipped to meet the healthcare needs of the people we care for; however, we work hard to keep things as homely and relaxed as possible. Families and the people we care for are encouraged to bring their own items to personalise their bedrooms.

As a member of the clinical leadership team, you will be required to work autonomously as well as with your colleagues, to ensure we deliver the best possible care to our service users. Drawing on your strong leadership skills you will be responsible for assisting the Service Manager in organising and developing service provision, including staffing, budget allocation and expenditure, resources, support networks and public relations within and relating to the service.

You will be able to demonstrate strong leadership skills and ensure that our services continue to develop and provide high quality care, building on our excellent reputation. You will be responsible for ensuring that the style, systems, and standards of care delivered reflect the philosophy of care as predetermined by Mental Health Concern including ensuring that our policies and procedures are safely implemented within the service.

You will have a passion for person centred care, be able to describe how you have developed the practice of others and have relevant experience in a leadership or managerial role. Additional hours may be required occasionally to meet organisational needs.

About you

We would love to hear from you if you possess the following:
  • Are an NMC Registered Mental Health Nurse with a valid Pin.
  • Have a management qualification and experience of managing/leading a team.
  • A minimum of 2 years (post NMC-registration) experience of working with people who have dementia and behaviours that can challenge.
  • Sound knowledge of dementia and behaviours relating to dementia.
  • Have excellent communication skills.
  • Understanding of laws, Mental Capacity Act, Mental Health Act, Safeguarding.
  • Are flexible in your approach to work.
  • Adaptable to change, and able to drive and implement change to help drive the service forward.
  • Fully Covid-19 vaccinated or will receive first dose no later than 16thSeptember 2021 or medical exempt.
