Job Details

As a Visiting CAMHS Consultant Psychiatrist, you'll be self-employed and will discuss with the Hospital Director about your working hours at the service.

Your knowledge and skills will be valued as you join a small and enthusiastic CAMHS therapy team of clinicians, who support people with difficulties and mental health conditions, including ADHD and Autism.

You will demonstrate a commitment to clinical excellence and will need to be a people-person as you oversee treatment plans and provide assessments and treatment to service users alongside a multidisciplinary team.

As part of the Clinical Governance framework, you will have the opportunity to support quality improvement initiatives to enhance the service user experience. You will enjoy a comprehensive introduction and will have access to a range of IT equipment to support your commitment to delivering great healthcare.

Other responsibilities:
  • Full medical responsibility for Children and adolescents
  • Adhere to risk assessment protocols and risk management
  • Psychological assessment, diagnosis and follow up of outpatients
  • Prescribing medication, monitoring and stabilising medication
  • Form part of local clinical governance
  • Assist service users in applying for PMI funding
  • Providing a "one-stop-shop" signposting to the in-house therapy service

To be successful in this role, you'll need:
  • Full GMC Registration
  • Registration with major insurance companies
  • Relevant experience within a similar setting
  • Experienced in providing ADOS assessments and treatment
  • Approval under Section 12 of the Mental Health Act
  • MRCPsych or equivalent
  • In-depth knowledge of Mental Health Legislation
  • Knowledge of risk assessment and risk management principles
  • Proven record of Continued Professional Development
  • Excellent communication skills
  • A positive and solution-focussed approach
