Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist - Fixed Term Contract (up to 12 months Maternity Cover)

Salary: £45,150pa FTE (£18,060 pro rata)

Hours: 16h per week (2 days)

Location: Cygnet Views, 22 Wellington Street, Matlock, Derbyshire, DE4 3JP

Cygnet Health Care is looking for a dedicated, caring individual to join the company as a Speech and Language Therapist at Cygnet Views. We offer excellent training opportunities, accelerated learning as well as a variety of staff benefits.

Cygnet Views is a specialist high dependency units that provides an intensive mental health rehabilitation service for service user with learning disabilities and other complex needs. Cygnet Views provides a service for up to 10 female patients.

Job Role

As a Speech and Language Therapist, you will have a unique opportunity to lead on the development and delivery of an evidence-based SLT service to meet the needs of the complex client group within a hospital and residential setting. Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will use expert skills to assess, advise and intervene with the aim of promoting functional communication systems and optimal independence. You will be able to train others, promote good practice and maintain a successful total communication environment. You will be accountable to the Director of Speech and Language Therapy and the onsite service managers. Postgraduate qualification in the management of dysphagia is desirable but not essential.

Candidate Profile

We are looking for an experienced Speech and Language Therapist with:
  • Experience in the field of Learning Disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorders and Mental Health Conditions including working knowledge / understanding of inpatient services
  • Dysphagia-training (desirable but not essential)
  • Understanding of person-centred planning approaches
  • Knowledge of key national drivers for inpatient services such as Transforming Care, Five RCSLT Good Communication Standards
  • Evidence of being a strong team player with a genuine desire to help others
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Ability to work flexibly and support the growth and challenges of a new unit
  • Enthusiasm, motivation and passion

You must be a Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) registered SLT. Please note: successful candidates will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
