Trainee Nursing Associate Apprenticeship for March 2022

University Hospitals Plymouth (UHP) NHS Trust is pleased to announce we are recruiting internal & external applicants for the next Cohort of the Trainee Nursing Associate Apprenticeship Programme, commencing March 2022 run by University of Plymouth.

The two year apprenticeship programme leads to a Nursing Associate Foundation degree (Level 5). This combines both academic and work-based learning in the physical, psychological and public health aspects of care.

The structured programme will enable apprentices to experience a wide variety of placements across the breadth of the health and social care sectors in different organisations with the aim of giving the widest exposure to healthcare, in the patients' home, near home and in-hospital.

You will be expected to attend University of Plymouth 1 day a week, (either on campus or on-line) to complete the academic aspect of the programme. As an apprentice you will be required to work a minimum of 30 hrs per week.

Essential minimum entry qualifications:
  • Achieved: Academic Level 3 or above qualification
  • Achieved: GCSE English and Maths Grade (C or above or 4 & above) or Functional skills in Maths and English level 2
  • Demonstrable Adult healthcare experience
  • IT skills

The Registered Nursing Associate (RNA) role has been introduced to help build the capacity of the nursing workforce to deliver high-quality care while supporting nurses and the wider multidisciplinary teams to focus on more complex clinical duties.

The nursing associate is a protected title in law and the role is regulated in England by the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC).

Part 1)

Submit Application form via NHS Jobs

Closing date: Wednesday 15th December 2021

Part 2)

Shortlisted candidates will be:
  • invited to attend a Presentation for Short-listed candidateson Monday 20th December 14.30 via MS teams
  • to complete an Initial Needs Analysis (INA) form against the Registered Nursing Associate Job Description to identify individual development needs for submission by Thursday 6th January 2022.

Part 3)
  • Collaborative face to face interview with UHP & University of Plymouth
  • Tuesday 18th January 22 or Wednesday 19th January 22

Part 4)
  • Following successful screening, interview outcome and recruitment checks, successful candidates will complete the University Application form for the programme

***Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as 'Priority' and 'At Risk' status including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon who are able to display recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification.***
