We are looking for enthusiastic individual to join our Medical Engineering team.

An exciting opportunity has opened for a 21-month apprenticeship within the Department of Medical Engineering at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Trust, based at QEHB site. We can offer you a challenging role with the opportunity to make a valuable contribution in the delivery of our medical engineering service. The successful candidate will be supported to gain a qualification in Business Administration Level 3.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual who can demonstrate they have a genuine interest and passion for this role.

The Role

You will support the medical engineering team by providing administrative support, for example

  • Answering telephone calls
  • Typing up and raising orders
  • Booking in medical equipment for repair/commissioning/servicing
  • Booking in parcels containing medical parts for engineers
  • Chasing up outstanding purchase orders
  • Greeting all visitors and couriers to help with their queries
  • Ordering necessary stationary
  • Receipting orders and scanning delivery notes
  • Logging Pre-Acquisition Questionnaire into the department's database
  • Dealing with email queries from external companies
  • Dealing with invoice queries from Trust finance department, external companies
  • Arranging service visits on behalf of external companies
  • Scanning completed job sheets
  • Raising jobs for service report sheets


To Apply:

Maths and English GCSE "Grade C / Grade 4" or above or Functional Skills Level 2 certificate in English and Maths or an equivalent qualification (e.g. O'levels, CSEs, A-levels, etc.)

Having a criminal record will not necessarily bar you from working with us; this will depend on the nature of the position and the circumstances of your offences.

Staff recruited from outside of the NHS will usually be appointed at the bottom of the pay band.

Successful candidates will be automatically enrolled onto the Trust staff bank UHB+.
