Pre-Registration Cross Sector Trainee Pharmacy Technician

We offer a full range of general hospital services to around 450,000 people in Plymouth, North and East Cornwall and South and West Devon. These include emergency and major trauma services, maternity services, pediatrics and a full range of diagnostic, medical and surgical sub-specialties.

The Pharmacy department at University hospitals Plymouth (UHP) are currently recruiting for Pre-registration pharmacy technicians to begin a vocational training programme commencing February 2022. The training opportunity is an advanced apprenticeship, full time, fixed term contract for 2 years. You will study to achieve:

A diploma in the principles and practice for Pharmacy Technicians.

Training assessment and support will be provided by work based mentors and college tutors.

All apprenticeship standards will have an end-point assessment. An independent organisation will conduct an independent end-point assessment to ensure all apprentices are following the same standards and are being assessed consistently.

Successful completion of this qualification will enable you to apply for registration to practice as a registered Pharmacy Technician with the GPhC

Course Entry Requirements

5 GCSE's grade 4-9 (or C or above) including:
  • Maths
  • English Language
  • 2 Science subjects (double or triple science / BTEC L3 in applied science)
  • Plus 1 other subject

The salary for this is annex U of a band 4 training post

£17.417 70% ( year 1 ) and £18.661 75% ( year 2 )

You will receive 27 days annual leave per year plus bank holidays.
