Level 6 Embedded Electronics Systems and Design Development Engineer Apprenticeship (Degree) – Service Engineering Apprentice

The role will develop your engineering skills to become a confident, positive and flexible Service Engineering apprentice with strong technical knowledge gained from on-the-job training and university studies. Supporting the team to undertake service-engineering activities to deadlines and within budget, within own competence supervision in a professional manner, in accordance with relevant specifications, standards and Thales (Chorus II) and documentation processes.
As a Service Engineering Apprentice, you will develop the key skills and experience in the following:
- Gain knowledge of engineering subjects; electronic, mechanical and software engineering
- Familiarise yourself with the key techniques and technologies used in the design and implementation of the product
- Learn to verify maintenance and operating procedures by assessing on hardware and software equipment
- Learn to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
- Gain knowledge of the different disciplines within the Services function detailed below and to specialise in one of the disciplines.
- Supportability and Integrated Logistics Support
- Technical Publication and Training Services
- Obsolescence Management
- Component Engineering
- Product Support and Post Design Services
- Gain knowledge and be able use Services tooling and software packages
- Learn and maintain knowledge of current industry standards for all service disciplines
Through our degree apprenticeship you’ll be making the most of your talents, getting to understand engineering from the ground up; and doing so with the help of one of the biggest and best names in the industry.
As a Service Engineering Apprentice you will be enrolled onto the Level 6 Embedded Electronic Systems Design and Development Engineering standard. In Year 1 you will attend college 2 days per week to achieve an HNC in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. In year 2 and Year 3 you will attend 1 day per week to achieve an HND in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. In Year 4 you will attend Portsmouth University 1-2 days per week to top up to a BEng in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. Upon completion of the degree you will go through an End Point Assessment upon which you will achieve the Level 6 apprenticeship. For the duration of this 4 year programme you will combine university studies with practical application, working within our Services function in Crawley.

We are looking for enthusiastic individuals who are motivated, committed and keen to learn. You will be a self-starter who is able to manage their time, show initiative and has a genuine interest in engineering and Thales. Successful candidates will show self-discipline and an aspiration to achieve a degree qualification.
You will also need:
Candidates will need a minimum of 104 UCAS tariff points at A Level (Grades BCC) including a grade B in Maths and at least 1 further STEM subject (Physics, Computer Science, Engineering, Electronics) or an equivalent e.g. BTEC DMM. They will also require 5 GCSEs grade A-C (9-5) including English and Maths.
Right to Work in the UK for the duration of the 4 year programme.
