The Programme

NECS has a clear social purpose to 'create jobs and generate wealth for our communities'.

In response to the economic challenges impacting on both job creation and people entering or returning to full time work. NECS has taken the opportunity to provide new job opportunities during 2021-22. Included in this programme is the Intern role, a 12-month development programme designed to give people the required skills and knowledge to enhance their career progression, whether that be in NECS or the NHS.

The programme aims to:

  • Align with the Corporate Social Responsibility Strategy through creation of new job roles and training for individuals disadvantaged by economic challenges
  • Support organisational succession planning for hard to recruit to areas
  • Develop an in-house pipeline resource to support pipeline work opportunities


The Role

An exciting opportunity is now available to join the Information Services team in the role of Apprentice. The Information Services provide Business Intelligence (BI) analytics and support to a range of internal and external customers.

Your development will not only include great 'on-the-job' training you'll also be undertaking an NVQ level 3 apprenticeship qualification providing you a great start to your career.

This role will be responsible for:

  • Providing a comprehensive, efficient service to NECS as part of the team
  • Providing support to project specific work dependent upon the priorities and focus of the team
  • Contributing regularly to ensuring the service is delivered within the service level agreement adhering to the standard operating procedures (SOPs) to deliver in line with customer expectations
  • Co-ordinating the provision of high quality, professional, responsive and flexible administrative support
  • Provision of analytical support to existing BI teams to assist in the production of routine reports using software packages such as MS Excel, SQL, QlikSense and PowerBI
  • Shadow locality and central reporting BI teams and the RAIDR team to understand working practices and build informatics technical skillset and experience

In order to be successful in this role you will need:

  • To demonstrate NHS and NECS values in day-to-day behaviours and communications with customers, stakeholders and colleagues.
  • To be able to demonstrate transferrable skills and apply them to different teams and projects
  • Some understanding and working knowledge of project methodologies.
  • Good working Knowledge of Microsoft Products i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Project.
  • To be able to work in a team and deliver on shared objectives, have a pro-active approach with the ability to establish priorities, work independently and proceed with objectives.
