Calling all Mental Health Occupational Therapists

What an exciting time to join NELFT. Are you looking for your next role? Do you want to make a real difference? Come and be part of the new Mental Health and Wellbeing Teams in Havering. NELFT has recently launched the mental health transformation programme and aim to radically transform our whole model of mental health care and support. The integrated teams will merge assessment, brief intervention, and recovery services. Our intention is not just to redesign care pathways but to develop a new ethos and culture that helps transform how we work together with our partners as 'one team' sharing care. There is new investment for mental health, peer support, and Support Time and Recovery workers to support the integrated teams in providing seamless care around the individual, their families, and their social networks.

In alignment with the Community Mental Health Framework for Adults, our aims include a greater focus on prevention, wellbeing and delivering more integrated and personalised care closer to home. By working with Primary Care Networks (PCN) and local partners, NELFT propose to support plans by developing multi-agency, integrated and place-based care to support people with mental health needs. At the core of the framework is the idea that primary, secondary, specialist, social care, along with housing, voluntary sector, and commissioned providers work together in a unified way with people who use services at the centre of service provision. All team members will receive training in recovery and social inclusion, Open Dialogue, and trauma informed approaches to care. In addition, groups of staff will also be invited to undertake further specialised training in an area of chosen expertise. We will support additional training and have a skills matrix to support existing and all new staff.

We have a number of band 6 Occupational Therapy (OT) roles working in our Havering Early Intervention in Psychosis and Community Recovery Teams.

Come and join us if you want to:
  • Undertake comprehensive OT assessments and intervention.
  • Promote recovery, social inclusion, relapse prevention, holistic health, and wellbeing.
  • Facilitate and provide group interventions.
  • Want to make personalised care a reality.
  • Promote and actively enable co-production in service delivery.
  • Work as part of an integrated team ensuring regular evaluation of individual care and recovery plans.
  • Undertake generic mental health assessments.
  • Further develop your leadership skills.

NELFT fully promotes OT professional/personal training and development, monthly supervision, CPD, annual appraisal, audit, research, and work-based Quality Improvement initiatives and innovation. There is the opportunity to support junior staff, OT students and apprentices. As part of the OT workforce, you will work in collaboration with the Borough lead OT to contribute towards the development of the OT services in the community teams.
