About the apprenticeship

Duties

To contribute a high standard of physical, emotional, social and intellectual care for children placed in the nursery.
To implement the daily routine in the base room.
Work with children, contribute to a programme of activities suitable to the age range of children in your area in conjunction with other staff.
Liaise with parents and other family members.
Maintaining health and safety, safeguarding, food and hygiene and all other policies and procedures within the nursery.
Support all staff and engage in good team working.

We are a high quality, Welsh and English, fully Organic, Montessori style Day Nursery situated in the city centre of Cardiff and Cardiff Bay. We are have just opened two new nurseries in the city centre and we require an experienced nursery professional to join our team.
We aim to recruit the best in the business. Therefore you need to be highly motivated and passionate about delivering exceptional childcare and wonderful learning experience.
We invest wholeheartedly in our staff, supporting and encouraging them to learn and grow by providing them with up-to-date training and advice .
If you are passionate about childcare, eager and willing to learn then we want to hear from you. We follow a Montessori style of teaching, provide fresh, home-cooked organic meals and use natural materials as much as possible. We have a big emphasis on outdoor play and forest schools are we are lucky to have parks close by.
You might be completing your level two or looking for a placement for your level 3. We offer a place in a busy Nursery, caring and educating children from 3 months to 5 years.. Ability to communicate well and build strong relationships with adults and children and families
Candidate should have calm, gentle and loving nature
To be able to demonstrate the ability to work as part of a team

Displays a passionate, enthusiasm and love for working with young children and babies

Good presentation skills
Computer literate
Demonstrate a professional demeanour inside and outside the workplace
Ability to deal with conflicts and concerns in a professional and calm manner.
Excellent punctuality and attendance
Apprentices should be respectful, polite and courteous individuals.
Provides a gentle, loving care approach when caring for babies and young children
Excellent observational skills

Qualifications

Secondary education GCSE Maths and English A-C or equivalent

A levels are desirable but not essential

A valid paediatric first aid qualification is desirable but not essential

Basic food hygiene certificate desirable but not essential

Valid safeguarding/ child protection certificate desirable but not essential

Language

Welsh Spoken Skills: Yes Welsh Written Skills: No

Who can apply?

To be eligible to apply you:

  • will be at least 16 years of age at the time of making your application
  • will not be in full-time education (you can apply while still attending school/college/university but will have finished or intend to finish your studies by the time your apprenticeship starts)
  • will need to meet the Civil Service Nationality requirements to apply.

ALS eligibility

Please note that ALS our training providers have their own eligibility in order to provide the funding required to undertake an apprenticeship. You may not be eligible to apply if:

  • you already hold a qualification at Level 3 or above in ICT, Software, Web and Telecoms or a similar subject
  • you already hold a qualification at Level 3 or above in Business Administration, Customer Service or a similar subject

What are the benefits?  

How much will I be paid?

You will earn £19,240 a year while training. When you pass your apprenticeship you can apply for a permanent job at the Welsh Government. Within 2 years of starting your apprenticeship you could be earning £22,500. 

You will get 31 days holidays as well as 10 public and privilege days. We offer flexible working arrangements to help you get the right work/life balance. You will also be eligible for membership of the Civil Service Pension Scheme
