Apprentice Workforce Development & Education Assistant

South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Trust have an exciting and challenging opportunity for an apprentice to work within the Workforce Development and Education Team of our HR Directorate.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated individual, eager to learn and develop a career within workforce development.

As an Apprentice Workforce Development Assistant you will undertake a wide range of duties whilst assisting the Workforce Development and Education team. These will include assisting with:
  • The promotion of apprenticeship opportunities both internal and external
  • Supporting careers initiatives across South Tyneside and Sunderland
  • Supporting work experience and clinical observer programmes
  • Supporting pre and post registration students undertaking placements within the Trust
  • Supporting Continuous Development activity for existing staff


This will be demanding but very rewarding post which require a methodical approach and an excellent attention to detail. A flexible and proactive approach to working life is essential as working on a rota basis is required to provide cover to meet the service needs. The post will be based at Sunderland Royal Hospital however a flexible as there may also be an element of working across both South Tyneside and Sunderland Hospital sites.

The duration of the apprenticeship is 24 months which is subject to regular reviews to demonstrate progress. Apprentices will commence on Annex 21 of the salary stated and to support the development in the role, the postholder is required to complete L3 Business Administrator apprenticeship standard over the period of the apprenticeship. Maths and English at Level 2 (GCSE Minimum grade C/4) is essential for the post. Following the successful completion of the apprenticeship the apprentice will moved into a substantive position
