You'll be flitting seamlessly from fielding requests from top business and news journalists, like the FT and BBC, to writing blogs on mental health for our intranet, organising townhalls for 1700 colleagues to posting on Twitter. Join an industry thought leader helping clients navigate the energy transition. Imagine the debates around COP26 on the daily!Internal and external communications are intrinsicly linked and through this apprenticeship, you will develop an understanding of the demands of both:
  • Reporting to Head of Internal Communications & PR and coached by the global team
  • Develop versatile writing skills tailored to your audience and medium: intranet articles, staff emails, blog posts, news releases, press notes, social posts, presentations.
  • Support press office by fielding incoming media enquiries from journalists
  • Contribute to measuring our impact through PR & Comms reporting and dashboards
  • Provide logistical and event planning support for staff events e.g. town halls and managers' briefings
  • Collaborate with colleagues in wider marketing team, e.g. social and content, on integrated marketing activities
  • Researching media contacts and updating databases
  • Collating content for internal digital signage
  • Researching and collating editorial calendars for trade publications

Requirements and prospects

Desired skills

  • Good grasp of grammar and written english
  • Good verbal communication skills
  • Organised and follows processes well
  • Basic grasp of main Microsoft applications e.g Word. Outlook, Excel

Personal qualities

  • Curious and asks probing questions
  • Interested in news and current affairs
  • Tenacious and enthusiastic
  • Keen interest in sustainability advantageous
  • Able to work remotely from line manager

Desired qualifications

  • 5 GCSEs grade A*-C/9-4 or equivalent (including English and Maths)
  • Degree in related subject preferred
