You will work alongside a more senior developer to learn our development processes, including analysis of initial requirements, architecture and design of sites, testing, deployment, maintenance and finally decommissioning sites.

You will gain experience inevery step of the process and be involved with website and eCRM builds for multipleclients.

Main responsibilities:
  • How to own the development process from brief to delivery
  • How to work across multiple projects at the same time
  • How to build from a list of user requirements
  • How to use GitLab or GitHub to manage/clone repositories to work in, as well as how to work in development branches and have your work reviewed and merged once
  • How to develop for a CMS, taking into consideration changeable content, specifically
    Umbraco and Piranha
  • More in-depth skills in front end tech such as HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript
  • How to build front end solutions with accuracy and attention to detail, ensuring searchengine, accessibility and performance optimization
  • How to translate PSD / XD visuals to HTML with accuracy
  • How to work with CSS pre-processors such as LESS and SASS, as well as using
    build/compilation tools such as GULP
  • How to work with closely with a Back-End developer to plan required API endpoints fordata retrieval/capture
  • How to build and test emails
  • How to track custom Google Analytics events using Google Tag Manager
  • How to create and update Razor C# views
  • How to navigate SQL Databases to test work and retrieve data
  • Typical Top-line project details
  • Front-end PSD / XD to HTML
  • Forms and appropriate validations
  • APIs to data retrieval / capture
  • Integrated social media posts and video content
  • Contact options for PR / customer relations / enquiries
  • ECRM signup link to Mailchimp

Requirements and prospects

Desired skills

  • Basic use of HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript.
  • Working knowledge of Adobe XD / Photoshop and know your way around enough to access designs and retrieve assets.

Personal qualities

  • Ability to work with our internal creative team and take the project from XD /Photoshop visuals to final deliverables
  • A creative and visual thinker with a passion for slick deliverables
  • A self-starter with an eagerness to win with digital and explore fresh ideas

Desired qualifications

Specific roles that are acceptable are:
  • IT Support roles e.g. Help Desk, First line
  • Software testing or any work that utilises basic coding
  • Any other technical job that uses IT equipment or software
  • Any data analytics or reporting related role

You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme. The learners would still be required to successfully pass the Aptitude Test at first attempt.

If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.

Future prospects

92% of QA Apprentices secure permanent employment after finishing their apprenticeship.Additionally there may be opportunities to undertake further apprenticeship training as many of our programs offer on-going development tracks.

Things to consider


In terms of benefits, the successful candidate would be entitled to:
  • Holiday entitlement is 26 days per year - during the first year they would accrue 2 days per month
  • After 3 months of service they will be able to enrol in the company pension scheme where DECIDE will contribute 3% of salary
  • Opportunities to attend external training and industry events with costs and expenses covered by DECIDE where appropriate

In terms of the softer benefits, pre-pandemic we held monthly lunch and learns so we can work collaboratively together across the company on hot topics and learn from each other. We also held monthly company get togethers on a Friday with drinks and food provided. We're keen to re-introduce these when we can.
