Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is the leading provider of health and social care services for people of all ages with mental ill-health and learning disabilities in Surrey & North-East Hampshire.

We are looking for enthusiastic and caring people who would like to work as Health Care Support Workers across Surrey and Borders Hospitals, community and social care services.

In this vital care support role, you will develop professional healthcare experience and be part of the nursing team working hands-on in a hospital, community and social care environment to help care for people who have a range of diverse and mental health problems or learning disabilities.

Summary of day to day responsibility
  • To observe report and record changes in the clients physical, mental health and behaviour
  • To provide care for people who use our services as planned in Multi - disciplinary Team (MDT) meetings
  • To be aware of and work to the principles of the Mental Health Act (MHA)
  • To give and receive clear messages by telephone and or personal contact
  • To provide the necessary physical care to people who use our services to help them complete daily living activities i.e. personal hygiene, diet and fluid intake, clothing and laundry, personal environment, elimination, maintaining rest and sleep and activity, physical observations.


Your Training, Development & Progression (Please see Job Description)

We want to grow our nursing workforce by providing a nursing career pathway that will enable you to receive the required training to progress further in your career. Please see job description for the nursing career pathway. You will be required to complete the care certificate training as this will provide you with the nursing skills and knowledge required to provide good quality care and clinical support

The Trust offers the opportunity for staff to apply for additional training including Apprentice Standard qualifications such as Nurse degree and Nursing Associate Apprenticeships, subject to meeting the entry level requirements.

All our inpatient Units work 24/7 rotational shifts which require people to work days, nights and weekends - our full-time hours are 37.5 per week and each shift is 12.5 hours. The Trust has an e-rostering system in place which allocates the shift pattern for each employee.

Please note that all salaries shown are based on whole time of 37.5 hours per week for non-medical roles and 40 hours per week for medical roles, part time roles are pro-rated accordingly.
