What will the apprentice be doing?

You will divide your time between working in our offices in Chesterfield, meeting with clients and undertaking inspections on building sites which will allow you to develop a practical understanding of the building control profession.

Applying the skills and knowledge you learn on your degree, you'll be involved from the planning and construction phases of building projects right through to completion, ensuring that they meet the standards specified by the appropriate building regulations.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

You will study for a BSc (Hons) degree in Building Control Surveying at the University of Wolverhampton over a four year period during which you will combine distance/online learning (involving approximately one day per week) with block release when, three or four times each year, you will spend a week studying at the University.

You will have the support of mentors at Derbyshire Building Contorl and the University of Wolverhampton to guide and develop you as well as to support your progress.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

Following completion of your apprenticeship, you will be encouraged to obtain a professional qualification in the form of chartered membership of CABE, RICS or CIOB.

Once qualified, your career and salary will progress rapidly as you take responsibility for bigger, more complex projects. There will also be the opportunity to move into management
