About the apprenticeship

Duties

• Facilitate in inward and outbound stock movements for the branch efficiently, following company procedures, and using IT systems where appropriate.
• Pick and pack goods in an efficient, timely and safe manner.
• Actively maintain and improve housekeeping throughout working hours ensuring that stored goods are kept tidily and in the correct place, using mechanical handling equipment where appropriate in accordance with company procedures.
• Ensure that with all aspects of Health & Safety policies and procedures are complied with in all daily activities.
• Contribute to the effective operation of the branch by supporting other staff in meeting Customer Service levels.

As a Rexel apprentice, you will be trained on all areas of warehouse process and procedures, which will give you a fantastic grounding for your future career. The role will provide training to ensure the meeting of branch customer service levels by facilitating the inward and outbound movements of stock, picking, packing and dispatch of customers' orders.

Skills

• English and Maths GCSE (or equivalent) is desirable
• Good communication skills, with the confidence to interact with customers and colleagues both face to face and via the phone/email
• The ability to follow instruction
• The want to take on new roles and challenges
• Good organisational skills, with the ability to work to deadlines and manage own workload
• Customer service skills with the understanding that the customer is the most important element to working within branch

Qualifications

Minium 3 GCSE or equivalent English / Welsh Maths and A.n. Other a to C

Language

Who can apply?

To be eligible to apply you:

  • will be at least 16 years of age at the time of making your application
  • will not be in full-time education (you can apply while still attending school/college/university but will have finished or intend to finish your studies by the time your apprenticeship starts)
  • will need to meet the Civil Service Nationality requirements to apply.

ALS eligibility

Please note that ALS our training providers have their own eligibility in order to provide the funding required to undertake an apprenticeship. You may not be eligible to apply if:

  • you already hold a qualification at Level 3 or above in ICT, Software, Web and Telecoms or a similar subject
  • you already hold a qualification at Level 3 or above in Business Administration, Customer Service or a similar subject

What are the benefits?  

How much will I be paid?

You will earn £19,240 a year while training. When you pass your apprenticeship you can apply for a permanent job at the Welsh Government. Within 2 years of starting your apprenticeship you could be earning £22,500. 

You will get 31 days holidays as well as 10 public and privilege days. We offer flexible working arrangements to help you get the right work/life balance. You will also be eligible for membership of the Civil Service Pension Scheme
