You will be spending 2 days per week working with the analytics team, getting real hands on experience of working with data science programs to build statistical analysis, visualsion, insight and automations. The rest of your time you will be working on in house projects that help to develop and train your skills for the term of your course.

You will be spending 6 weeks per year gaining a Bsc (Honours) in Data Science at the University of West London over a period of 3 years. This will be via a mixture of online and face to face learning on site.

Duties will include:
  • Working with the analytics teams within IRI
  • Manipulating Big Retailer Data using data science packages
  • Running statistical models to help supermarkets, food manufacturers and media agencies with their price, promotion and media strategies
  • Answering queries and questions on the data and delivering insightful recommendations
  • Becoming the Expert in the data and the platforms we use
  • Presenting to clients based on your findings within the data in a clear and succinct way
  • Working with the team to support the resolution of data coding, reporting and data structure
  • Building dashboards/optimizations for internal and external clients
  • Automating procedures to remove manual processes using machine learning and AI
  • Full training on best in class technology and data processing

Requirements and prospects

Desired skills

  • Fluent English business speaking and writing
  • Ability to learn to use SQL, R, Python and other packages for machine learning and big data manipulation
  • Passion for learning both coding and statistical theory and putting into practice
  • The ability to use big disparate data sources
  • Analytic and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel including pivot tables and advanced formulas
  • Creative and advanced knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint to deliver impactful client presentations
  • Ability to communicate with teams in different countries and cultures
  • Ability to convey complex information in a simple manner
  • Excellent eye for design and detail in presentations
  • High level of QC skills
  • 112 UCAS tariff points for example "A" level B,B,C or btec extended diploma -DMM
  • Level 2 English and Maths. students with work experience
  • Ideally A Level in mathematics/Statistics

Desired qualifications

  • A levels (level 3)112Ucaspoints ( B,B,C grades )orBteclevel 3 extended diploma in computer science ( D,M,M) or a level 3 apprenticeship in IT related occupation
  • Plus GCSE qualifications (Level 2) in English and maths- A*-C or 9-4. Before taking their end-point assessment, allapprentices on apprenticeships at level 3 and above must achieve Level 2 English andmaths. Apprentices with these qualifications may complete them at the university while on the apprenticeship
  • Applicants with no formal qualifications will also be considered on an individual basis

Future prospects

  • Possibility of full-time position after successful completion of apprenticeship
