Employer description  

Durrant House Hotel are a busy all season 125 bedroom hotel located in Northam, Bideford. We have bookings from both private and coach guests.

We offer conference, banqueting and meeting facilities. We also hold dance weekends and private functions.

We have the Olive Tree Restaurant and Appledore Bar. Food is served in the hotel from 12.00 noon until 21:30pm.

We also have a Spa offering beauty treatments to both residents and non-residents of the hotel.

Job description  

Durrant House Hotel are looking for are looking for enthusiastic, reliable and confident applicants to join their team as a Front of House Hospitality Team Member. You will join a close-knit team, working as a team to serve up great food and drinks in a fun, friendly atmosphere. The successful candidate will be working towards gaining a Hospitality Team Member Level 2 Standard.

 

  What will your day-to-day duties involve?

 

•       You will be responsible for assisting private and coach guest with their seating and menu choices

 

 

•       Serving alcoholic and soft and hot drinks

 

 

•       Taking food and drink orders, food orders are taken to the kitchen

 

 

•       Serving customers

 

 

•       Maintaining a high level of customer service at all times

 

 

•       You will be responsible for clearing the tables and setting them up for the following meal.

 

 

•       Clearing tables and keeping general area clean

 

 

•       We are also open to non-residents and you would be expected to have a comprehensive knowledge of the menu

 

 

•       You will be expected to take payments.

 

 

•       Ensure you meet requirements in respect of COSHH, Licensing Laws, Food Safety and Health & Safety regulations are adhered to and any incidents are reported in line with procedures

 

 

•       You will also be required to keep up-to-date with all Apprenticeship work, and to have regular meetings (every 4-6 weeks) with the Regional Trainer to discuss your work

•Punctual Things to consider   This vacancy is for a minimum of 30 hours but this is a busy hotel and there is the opportunity to work many more hours, your wage will be pro-rated according to total hours worked.
This vacancy may close before the closing date if a suitable candidate is found. All published dates can therefore be flexible and will be dependent on suitable candidates coming forward and registering appropriate interest.
Level 2 - Hospitality Team Member Apprenticeship
Apprenticeship standards are aimed at developing skills within the Apprentices chosen career route, each standard has set knowledge, skills and behaviours required to be successful within the job role. This will include the completion of functional skills in Maths and English. Once the apprentice has completed a minimum of 12 months training and the employer and Babcock regional trainer confirm they have met all the requirements of the standard they will be put through to end point assessment. The end point assessment is independent from the training and includes a variety of assessment methods which test the skills and knowledge of the apprentice to ensure they are fully competent in their role. Each Apprentice will be supported throughout the apprenticeship by a structured programme of teaching, e-learning, face to face training and workplace mentoring; this will encourage and help them to meet the requirements of the new standards and will prepare them for the end of point assessment.
