This is an excellent opportunity for an entry-level candidate to gain experience in many top industry standard practices including test driven development, pair programming, code reviews and Agile. The successful candidate will receive mentoring and coaching along with dedicated time to spend learning in order to help them develop their skill set. Therefore an aptitude for understanding technical problems and an enthusiasm for learning are more important than experience of the specific technologies.
Working with the Scholastic UK Web team you will develop new features and identify and fix bugs on our website following an Agile process. You will collaborate with the team and wider business to identify and implement User Stories using Ruby on Rails, HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
You will have experience of server-side web development as well as experience with databases, preferably PostgreSQL. You will be comfortable using the command line for development and have worked with git version control.
You will have the ability to work accurately and to organize and prioritise your own workloads as well being able to adapt to changing deadlines and requirements. With a strong work ethic you will have a passion to succeed and develop within the role.
