If you have a natural way with people and are a good listener, with a passion for helping some of the most vulnerable people with their communication needs, then join the team as a part-time Speech and Language Therapist (SaLT) at Stanley House in Bosbury.

Working 7 hours a week, you'll be a part of the multidisciplinary team at Stanley House, a service that offers a multidisciplinary approach to its long term care providers and provides specialised care and expert therapeutic interventions for people with neurological conditions who require a home from home setting.

As a Speech and Language Therapist, you will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating individual treatment and rehabilitation plans. This will see you assessing and diagnosing communication and swallowing difficulties arising from a variety of different complex conditions.

With experience from the NHS or private sector, you will lead therapeutic group activities to support the needs of service users' communication needs. You will be responsible for providing training on swallowing or communication programmes to Therapy Assistants and unit-based staff.

You will work closely alongside the Dietician and catering team at Stanley House as a part of devising and reviewing SALT related individual therapy programmes to ensure service users and receiving the best care so they can build a brighter future.

Other responsibilities
  • Provide ongoing monitoring, support and assessment of service users' physical and psychological needs.
  • Promote personal and social skills and leisure activities
  • Attending multidisciplinary meetings, review meetings and relevant meetings with outside agencies
  • Use a range of verbal and non-verbal communication skills to engage effectively with residents and their families
  • Participate in goal planning meetings, and setting and reviewing appropriate SMART goals
  • Ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of all Physiotherapy equipment

To be successful in this role, you'll need:
  • Knowledge of the Standards of Practice from the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists
  • Experience within a similar working environment
  • Registered and qualified Speech and Language Therapist
