Duration: 18 months
Hours: 40 hours per week (Monday to Friday)
Salary: £15,000 - £18,000
THE ROLE
The role is office based and a member of the UK Business IT team. As a junior software developer, you will work in a lean UK team integrated into a larger EMEA team. Developing our existing client facing web software and mobile platforms will be your lifeblood, while contributing towards system enhancements and participating in the development process. There will be an opportunity to input into the technologies and methods used to program the systems. The role will also encompass testing and quality control of delivered products.
MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
All activities are to be carried out in accordance with all company policies and procedures as set out in the Employee Handbook and elsewhere including policies on; equal opportunities, health & safety, data protection and information security.
• Maintain and improve the performance of existing software
• Recommend improvements to existing software programs as necessary
• During the software development lifecycle oversee and participate in the choice of technologies, design and programming of software systems to ensure that they are delivered in line with the specification / business needs
• Develop and implement new software programs as required
• Test and maintain software products to ensure strong functionality and optimisation
• Provide platform & application support across all DEKRA web software applications and mobile apps
• Author and format technical documentation appropriate for the intended audience
CUSTOMER SERVICE AND TEAMWORK
The IT Junior Software Developer role requires interaction with various areas of the business.
• Good, clear, confident use of language, in person and via Teams or over the telephone essential
• Provide professional and effective application support to internal customers, exceeding expectations
• Communicate courteously by telephone, email and face to face, building positive relationships, responding to and progressing issues and queries to a successful conclusion at the earliest time
• Speak positively, enthusiastically and professionally about the company its products and services
• Work as an active member of the team in a flexible and supportive way, demonstrating departmental standards
• Collaborate on software projects supporting the regional service divisions ensuring alignment with group standards
• Work in collaboration with other departments within Automotive to identify any process improvements and improve standards, efficiency and profitability
DEVELOPMENT
The individual should demonstrate a keen interest in continual personal development for their technical area of expertise. Development in this varied role could extend to taking on more responsibility within Business IT. Development within the company in this or other roles will be dependent on the commercial needs of the business and the personal ability and drive of the job holder.
