The Cyber Security Degree Apprenticeship Programme: 

We’re recruiting apprentices to join our Cyber Security Degree Apprenticeship, an exciting and unique opportunity to participate in the only degree apprenticeship course of this kind in the country. 


Over the course of 3 years, you’ll gain a full BSc Honours degree and complete a programme of work-based training to develop your professional skills for a career in Cyber Security.


Training, development and support for you: 


We have opportunities for apprentices to join two of our EDF teams:

  • Our Enterprise Information Security Team within our Corporate Business Unit
  • Our Technical Client Organisation - EDF’s centre of technical and licensing excellence supporting the new, future and existing fleet of nuclear power stations


Whichever team you join, you’ll gain experience of dealing with a range of security threats, supporting Security Incident and Event Management activities. The type of activities you could be involved in include: performing security design reviews of Operational Technology (OT) and Information Technology (IT) systems, undertaking security assurance activities, risk assessments, implementation of security monitoring technologies, identifying threats, designing secure systems and managing intrusion responses. You’ll also have the opportunity to learn about other areas of the business through short projects and secondments.


Once you’ve completed the apprenticeship, you’ll have a BSc (Hons) Cyber Security Technical Professional Degree from Gloucestershire College or QA (industry leading tech training and skills provider), as well as experience with EDF (UK). 


Alongside this, you will work towards gaining your accreditation from the Chartered Institute of Information Security Professionals. That means you’ll be in the best possible position to continue your career as a professionally qualified Cyber Security Engineer.

Where you’ll work: 


During the apprenticeship you will be based from our offices in Gloucester.


What you’ll need to apply: 


  • A minimum of 5 GCSEs including English and Maths at grade 9 - 4 or A*- C and 3 A Levels including Maths
  • You’ll be passionate about cyber security and demonstrate an awareness of current threats, vulnerabilities and technologies
  • Willingness to attend lectures and study in your own time to achieve the degree
  • You'll have the ability to work in a team and independently, as well as being able to balance the responsibilities of study and work
  • It is a requirement of this role that the post-holder either holds or can obtain and maintain Security Check (SC) clearance.
