Job description
The role is to work as part of a large team, it requires caring for all the children's care needs alongside assisting with full range of daily duties. We are looking for someone who enjoys spending time with a variety of aged children and is willing to learn all aspect of the job role. In the role of an Early Years Educator Apprentice you are required to train and study towards an Early Years L3 Standard.
Some of the duties you will undertake will include:
- Supervising children’s play and learning activities
- Supporting children's hygiene routines
- Completing children's learning and development files to a high standard
- Assisting at meal times and with feeding
- Contributing to planned programmes of activities
- Liaising with parents and carers
- Following Health and Safety at all times
- Working as part of a team to set-up the rooms and clear down at the end of the day plus cleaning duties
As an Apprentice you will be included on an Early Years Educator Apprenticeship. Your Qualification will be delivered by Babcock Training who will support your learning and development throughout your Apprenticeship. This will involve a Regional Trainer meeting online with you on a regular basis to deliver the training and guide you through your Apprenticeship.
Future Prospects
Once the apprenticeship has been completed and passed, this could lead to a permanent position in the nursery. Further training is also available and encouraged to support you as part of your professional development.
Skills required
You will be able to communicate well with parents and colleagues. You will show an understanding of what children enjoy doing to learn and develop and be able to engage with young children easily whilst maintaining a safe environment. It is necessary to record observations and assessments, therefore satisfactory literacy skills are desirable.
Qualifications required
GCSE in Maths and English A-C (9-4) is preferred but training in functional skills level 2 is provided
Personal qualities
•The potential candidate needs to have an interest in children's learning and development
•Be motivated, punctual at all times, good communicator and be able to work in a team
•Can use their own initiative
•Have a positive approach to learning
•Be highly motivated and willing to take direction from the childcare team

As an Apprentice, you will be included on a Level 3 Early Years Educator Apprenticeship.
Apprenticeship standards are aimed at developing skills within the apprentices’ chosen career route, each standard has set knowledge, skills and behaviours required to be successful within the job role. This will include the completion of functional skills in maths and English.
Once you have completed a minimum of 12 months training and the employer and Babcock's Regional Trainer will confirm you have met all the requirements of the standard you will be put through to the End Point Assessment. The End Point Assessment is independent from the training and includes a variety of assessment methods, which test the skills, and knowledge of apprentices to ensure you are fully competent in your role.
As an Apprentice you will be supported throughout the apprenticeship by a structured programme of teaching, e-learning, one to one training and workplace mentoring; this will encourage and help you to meet the requirements of the new standards and will prepare you for the End Point Assessment.
