Right now, we're looking for dedicated, efficient but above all hugely caring Trainee Nursing Assistants to join our team at Ward 12 Orthopedic and General surgical unit

With a passion for helping others and an ability to demonstrate compassion and empathy in your approach to caring for our patients, your support and 'hands on' work will offer not only our patients a more positive and reassuring hospital stay, but you; great job satisfaction in knowing your dedication and commitment has made a real difference to both your ward but fundamentally the people you're caring for.

At the heart of the ward, you'll form a vital part of the team at the forefront of delivering direct care to our patients by communicating effectively and with compassion and assisting them with their personal needs and mobility, supporting with eating and drinking and recording observations. A fully supported training programme will be provided for you, both on and off the job.

If you are interested but do not have the relevant qualification (Level 2 NVQ or Apprenticeship in Health Care Support competency based qualification, (BTEC qualifications are not accepted) then don't worry we can support a trainee post and are committed to developing our staff as we have a committed and dedicated education team. You will be expected to work early, late and night shifts.

The apprenticeship programme is fully funded by the Trust and consists of a 15-21 month programme of intensive training in order to prepare you for the role of a Qualified Nursing Assistant. On successful completion of the programme you will have attained an Apprenticeship in Health

You will need to have:
  • Excellent communication skills - in particular listening skills
  • A friendly, open, empathetic and compassionate communication style
  • A strong ability to engage with patients, visitors and colleagues
  • The ability to work well in a team

The salary for a Trainee Nursing Assistant is £17051.04 per annum and upon successful completion of the apprenticeship programme, the salary for a Qualified Nursing Assistant starts at £18,005 per annum.

Successful applicants who have secured a position on the 15-21 month apprenticeship will be paid at £17,051.04 and will progress to Band 2 salary £18,005 - £19,337 per annum upon successful completion of the apprenticeship programme.

From 11th November 2021, it has been a mandatory requirement for Care Home workers to have had first and second COVID-19 vaccinations or to evidence medical exemption in order to comply with Government legislation.

From 1st April 2022 all NHS workers in England who have face to face or incidental contact with patients must have had their first and second vaccinations for COVID-19. Only those with medical exemptions will be excluded from this requirement.

This mandatory requirement may apply to this position. If it does apply, you will be asked to provide evidence of vaccinations / exemption as part of the employment checks if you are offered the position.

We may decide to close this vacancy earlier than the published closing date if sufficient applications are received.

Trust policy requires that the cost of submitting & processing the successful applicant/s DBS application be recovered via salary deduction in the first 3 months following start in post. The amount of £26.85(standard disclosure) or £43.85(enhanced disclosure) If you wish to withdraw once a DBS application has commenced you will be still liable for payment.
