Salary:Extremely competitive salary depending on experience

Hours:At least4 to 8 hours per week, or more!(can be very flexible)

Location:Home-based/Surrey (can be flexible)

The Surrey and North East Hampshire (Jarvis) Breast Screening Service has an eligible population of approximately 180,000 women who are invited to screening over a 3-year screening round. The static breast screening unit is currently located at the Jarvis Breast Centre provides screening and assessment service. Screening is also carried out on five mobile units covering a geographical area including 19 sites throughout Surrey and North East Hampshire which include supermarket carparks, local council carparks and hospital sites. Screening patients are referred to six NHS Trusts for surgical and oncological treatments.

InHealth is committed in training and development. We are very proud of our national Training Centre that delivers four modules of the MSc in breast imaging from Kingston University. In addition, students from the Postgraduate Certificate in Mammography attend for clinical assessment, which is carried out partnership with St Georges. Apprenticeship in mammography is also delivered.

What will you do?

You will provide clinical leadership to SNEH breast screening programme, enabling the medical staff to play their part in delivering the strategic aims and vision for the service. You will ensure the service meets the nationally and locally agreed standards of performance, as well as ensuring that high quality medical assessment is delivered to clients in a structured and planned way and in accordance with recent guidance.

You will be the Clinical Lead for the Training School and ensure that a suitable environment for learning and professional development for all members of staff.

What will you be responsible for?
  • Providing clinical leadership to the strategic development of services and facilitate effective team working
  • Managing the medical workforce in the department, including ensuring all doctors receive annual enhanced appraisal and monitoring individual performance with reference to national standards, addressing any developmental and/or performance issues
  • The management and appraisal of the senior leadership team including radiographic superintendent programme manager, senior breast nurse and education manager.
  • Ensuring regular audits are performed for all aspects of the service and act on any recommendations of these reports
  • Screening budget oversight, including working collaboratively with commissioners in reviewing the service in line with service specifications and needs, for example resulting from SQAS reports; meeting regularly with Head of Screening & Prevention and finance team to review service needs and costs
  • Pproviding assurance that all internal and outsourced or subcontracted services meet NHS BSP guidance and associated quality, safety and performance standards
  • Lead on quality patient safety and all aspects of clinical governance

We're looking for someone who is:
  • A passionate and committed leader who can motivate, encourage and communicate with staff and colleagues at all levels to achieve high results
  • A Consultant Radiologist/Associate Specialist/Consultant Radiographer in breast screening centre with at least 5 years' experience
  • A commercially aware individual with creative thinking
  • Educated about CQC requirements, Health & Safety, Infection Control, the Data Protection Act and Caldicott Principles

In order to apply you should have experience of:
  • Be an experienced manager with a proven track record, credibility leading a multi-disciplinary team, coaching others on how to manage teams and able to implement working practices
  • Competent in all aspects of breast assessment in screening
  • Understanding and knowledge of the whole process of breast screening
  • Understanding of local commissioning environment and the role of SNEH in service delivery
  • Have developed organisational and time management skills that enable you to prioritise conflicting demands
  • Be able to turn strategic plans into actions and successful results
  • Working in a breast screening centre for at least 5 years
  • Previous management of a significant incident
  • Strong drive to deliver results combined with being a team player
  • Have a professional and cooperative attitude even when under pressure
