How this role fits in.

Leonardo's four year Degree Apprenticeship specialising in Business Management is looking for people who understand the importance of communication, who are able to work well as part of a team and also on their own initiative. You will have the drive and commitment to work through difficult problems to find the right solutions.

Leonardo's four-year Business Degree Apprenticeship provides a wealth of learning and development opportunities whilst gaining a degree qualification in management and business; either BA (Hons); BSc (Hons) or BBA (Hons). You will work alongside specialists while completing a series of rotational placements -including Sales and Marketing, Commercial, Procurement, Finance and Project Management, that will provide you with a secure platform from which to launch your Leonardo Career. You will study with one of our academic partners for completion of a Chartered Manager standard (ST0272).

You will learn how various business areas operate, discovering how projects are run, managed and delivered, and having opportunities to liaise with customers and suppliers. Later in the apprenticeship you will work within the Integrated Project Teams gaining the skills and knowledge to deliver complex projects, utilising strong internal and external customer facing skills. The role will introduce you to all aspects of our business.

What you will do.

During Years 1 and 2 of the degree you will study core modules addressing the commercial environment, professional development, finance, quantitative methods of business, exploring business ethics and project planning andcontrol. In addition learners will work closely with work-based assessors and mentors to enable them to apply their academic knowledge within their work context.

Years 3 and 4 are designed to develop higher level cognitive skills and enable the continued integration of knowledge, professional competencies and transferable skills via two more extensive work-based Integrated Projects with real value to the employer and with continued learning in leadership andorganisations and the digital economy.

The Leonardo Business Apprenticeship is structured around a programme of placements that will see you move around the business over a 4 year period designed to give you as much experience of and exposure to an international business environment as possible. This will help you identify areas that interest/excite you and also give you a wider understanding of how a global business operates.

An example of placements and the typical duties may include:
  • PROJECT MANAGEMENT: Providing support to one or more of the company projects working alongside experienced project managers where you will learn the fundamentals of the Project Management
  • BID MANAGEMENT: You will support Bid Managers in winning business through the generation of successful proposals and securing customer needs through a 'Bid' on a tender opportunity
  • COMMERCIAL: Working as part of the Commercial team you will gain an insight into the exciting world of contract management, offering support to customer negotiations to secure new business and support programmes
  • PROCUREMENT: Working within the Procurement team you will help build and maintain strategic relationships with our suppliers. Supplier relations are essential for successful and cost effective delivery on programmes
  • MARKETING AND SALES: You will be involved in securing new business for Leonardo by supporting both front end and internal marketing activity to capture profitable contracts

As a Business Degree Apprentice you will work within the Integrated Project Teams gaining the skills and knowledge to deliver complex projects, utilising strong internal and external customer facing skills. The role will introduce you to all aspects of Procurement, Commercial, Sales and Project Management including, working with our experienced project managers, you will support project execution and delivery within the EW and MAP line of business. You will engage in a series of placements within different functions or departments in the business to gain a rounded experience and set you up for a final placement.

Desired qualifications

You must have (as a minimum) the following qualifications:

3 x A Levels (A*- C) one of which must be English, Maths or a Business related subject

OR

An alternative Level 3 qualification, which must be a business-related subject

AND

5 GCSE grades 9 - 4 or grades A*- C or equivalent, including Maths and English.
