We are looking for an apprentice to join our lively procurement team as an Apprentice Buyer. You will be supported to study for the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS) Level 4 Diploma as part of this role. CIPS Level 4 is a vocationally related qualification recognised generally as the standard for the procurement profession or you may opt for the L3 Business Administration BTEC

This opportunity will provide you with a qualification, a good working knowledge of operational procurement, financial awareness, and NHS experience.

The role involves the day to day processing of orders for goods and services requested by the Trust's staff. You will be on the constant look out for savings opportunities whilst ensuring that the Trust is buying safe and fit for purpose goods. The role involves creating and maintaining catalogues for regularly purchased items. You will have a lot of interactions with staff and suppliers making the job both busy and interesting. Part of the role is also to support staff when there are problems with delivery or pricing.

You will have a confident telephone manner and be tactful and assertive, able to support staff to get the goods they need and be able to work effectively with external suppliers.

A car is not essential for this role but you need to be able to reliably get to the office at Tatchbury Mount SO40 2RZ.

A DBS check is required by the Employer for this post. The Employer will undertake an initial check at the appropriate level on appointment. As a condition of employment you are required to register with the online DBS update service and maintain this registration throughout employment.

Frontline Healthcare workers (who have face-to-face contact with service users ) in England will be required to ensure they are fully vaccinated against COVID-19, from 1 April 2022 . To work as a frontline healthcare worker from 1 April 2022 it will be a condition of employment to be fully vaccinated. This requirement will also apply to those in ancillary support roles such as porters or receptionists who may have social contact with patients but are not directly involved in their care.

To be fully vaccinated you must receive both doses of a Covid-19 vaccination. Successful applicants will be required (unless exempt*) to provide evidence of their covid vaccination status (NHS COVID Pass) or evidence that they have commenced their journey to becoming fully vaccinated. If the required evidence cannot be provided then any offer of employment may be withdrawn.
