If you would like to make a real difference to young adults' lives by developing and providing early specialist treatment, we would like to hear from you. We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Practitioner Psychologist to join the 18-25s Specialist Psychology Service. Attached to this post is up to £6000 of CPD funding (terms and conditions apply). We welcome applications from both experienced Psychologists, and those who have recently qualified and may be appointed at a band 7 on a Preceptorship basis.

The 18-25s Psychology Service is a fairly new service that addresses a gap in current service provision providing a specialist service to young adults transferring from local CAMHS services. Our service users present with needs that are too complex to be met by Primary Care, but not so complex that would require involvement of the Secondary Care Mental Health Teams. The service has been highly valued by our young adults' service users who have been providing very positive feedback on high level of impact the support they have received has had on their lives. Post holder will be working alongside another qualified Psychologist, two Clinical Associates in Psychology apprentices, and an Assistant Psychologist, and closely liaising with the wider network of Primary Care and MDT colleagues. You will be expected to work autonomously to provide a high quality Psychology service, which will include the provision of psychological therapy, a psychoeducation group programme, assisting young adults in the transition from CAMHS, and ensuring ongoing monitoring and evaluation. The post holder will be responsible for ensuring early intervention through collaborative working with Primary Care colleagues, employment, education and other system partners, supporting early treatment.

Alongside the expected clinical skills, we will be looking for someone who has the vision and motivation to continue shape and develop the service forward, and to actively contribute to the evaluation of it. The successful applicant will have strong networking and relationship building skills, alongside skills in creatively and actively working with this client group and the wider network around them. They are likely to have a strong understanding of the impact of Trauma and Adverse Childhood Experiences, and to be interested in promoting social inclusion and the empowerment of service users within their mental health recovery and in maintaining their social systems.

The successful applicant will join our professional and friendly team of psychologists working in Adult Community Mental Health Services in the North-West Essex area of Essex Partnership University Trust. The services cover a broad geographical area with bases in: Loughton, Harlow and Uttlesford. The Psychology service currently comprises of approximately seven whole time equivalent Psychologists and four Assistants, two CAPs, together with clinical and counselling psychology trainees and volunteers. We also have close links with colleagues locally working in the Specialist Dementia & Frailty, Perinatal, Eating Disorders, Liaison, Urgent Community Care and In Patient settings. Within the service, psychologists have specialist skills and training in variety of areas and approaches, including Autism Spectrum Conditions, CAT, CBT, CBTp, DBT, EMDR, Schema Therapy and Trauma -Informed approaches. Specialist external supervision is provided in several of these approaches, and CPD is both strongly supported and actively encouraged.

This post will be based in the Harlow area, although it would be possible to be flexible about this, and working in other areas will be required as part of the role. You will also provide consultation and training for staff, and placement and supervision for trainees, assistants, CAPs, and volunteers as required. The post-holder will be expected to contribute to the development of the Psychological Services and to participate in research, audit and service evaluation. The right applicant will enjoy diversity and working in front line services, they will be patient centered, and a great team player. In return they will have job satisfaction and excellent professional development opportunities.

We welcome you to join us in shaping services, as we believe that by investing in the development of our staff member's careers, we are able to strengthen our services in order to provide the best quality care for our service users. If you are enthusiastic, self-motivating with a commitment to delivering high quality service users care we would like to hear from you.
