About the apprenticeship


You'll be fully trained and supported. Below is a summary of what you'll be doing:

Ensuring that all delivered items such as components, raw materials, finished products and sundry items are stored in the correct manner.

Accurately process any works orders and customer orders in the defined standards and timescales, ensuring that all activities are in accordance with regulations.

Checking and re-locating of customer returns, components returns and raw materials returns and carry out the appropriate administration duties relevant to the Warehouse and Distribution Department.

Fulfilling a site service role, encompassing delivery and pick up of goods essential to department and site needs, loading and unloading of incoming and outgoing goods.

To comply with relevant elements of Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and follow at all times, safe working practices.

Generation of relevant warehouse documentation in accordance with current Good Manufacturing Practice and Good Distribution Practice.

You will be fully supported via your Apprentice Support Bubble consisting of your supervisor, your buddy, the Head of Learning & Development and your workplace assessor.

We have a very friendly team here at Wockhardt and we can't wait to welcome new apprentices into our business.

SHIFT PATTERN: 6am-2pm and 1.30pm-9.30pm Monday to Friday on alternate weeks.

BREAKS: 30 minutes for lunch / dinner, plus 10 minute break.

HOLIDAYS: 25 days per annum, plus Bank Holidays.



Minimum age of 18 as of 6th September 2021, due to shift systems and location

Fluent in English, both verbal and written

PC-literate and able to easily navigate Windows-based systems

Flexible and able to understand quality procedures

Willingness to learn

Enthusiastic and passionate

Hard-working and committed

Great time-keeping and attendance record

Good standard of hygiene


Able to communicate effectively

Able to work independently as well as being a great team player

High degree of alertness

High attention to detail

Willing to work a shift system

Driving Licence advantageous

Willing to become fork-lift truck trained

Willing to wear safety and protective equipment as required

We have a good track record for taking on apprentices after they have completed their programme. There are lots of career paths available so we will always endeavour to reward those that perform with permanent positions for roles that are available at the time.

Who can apply?

To be eligible to apply you:

  • will be at least 16 years of age at the time of making your application
  • will not be in full-time education (you can apply while still attending school/college/university but will have finished or intend to finish your studies by the time your apprenticeship starts)
  • will need to meet the Civil Service Nationality requirements to apply.

ALS eligibility

Please note that ALS our training providers have their own eligibility in order to provide the funding required to undertake an apprenticeship. You may not be eligible to apply if:

  • you already hold a qualification at Level 3 or above in ICT, Software, Web and Telecoms or a similar subject
  • you already hold a qualification at Level 3 or above in Business Administration, Customer Service or a similar subject

What are the benefits?  

How much will I be paid?

You will earn £19,240 a year while training. When you pass your apprenticeship you can apply for a permanent job at the Welsh Government. Within 2 years of starting your apprenticeship you could be earning £22,500. 

You will get 31 days holidays as well as 10 public and privilege days. We offer flexible working arrangements to help you get the right work/life balance. You will also be eligible for membership of the Civil Service Pension Scheme
