Job Details

This is an opportunity to build invaluable engineering skills, working alongside our experts as well as studying towards a degree. You’ll gain the kind of all-round experience that will enable you to choose where your interests lie so you can specialise when the programme comes to an end. It makes this a brilliant platform from which to launch a fulfilling career as a Rolls-Royce engineer.

The programme

Join our Engineering Degree Apprenticeship programme and, while you're working towards a bachelor’s degree, you'll also be getting valuable real-world experience. By the time you finish, you'll have achieved your degree and you'll be ready, on a practical level, to start taking your career development to the next level.

What you’ll do

All the way through your degree apprenticeship, you'll be working alongside exceptional engineering professionals. You'll gain a firm foundation in engineering principles, before going on to placements in different areas of the company. These generally last four months each, which allows you to develop a real understanding of what working in that area means.

We recruit Engineering Degree Apprentices into a number of different areas. In all of them, you'll enjoy on-and-off-the-job training and outstanding opportunities to progress. Once you’ve completed your apprenticeship, you’ll have a good idea of where your interests lie and what you want to do next. For example, in the future, you could be a Design Engineer, Stress Engineer, Development Engineer, a Service Engineer or a Lifecycle Engineer.

What you’ll need

You’ll have two A Levels (or equivalent) at a grade C in Maths, Physics, Chemistry or Engineering (this must include Maths or Physics or both) plus one further grade C in any subject, or, an Engineering Extended Level 3 BTEC at DDM. You’ll also need 5 GCSEs including GCSE Maths at a grade 5/B and GCSE English Language at a grade C/4 plus 3 other GCSE’s at grade C/4.

Beyond your academic achievements, we'll be looking for evidence that you're a quick thinker and problem solver, genuinely enthusiastic about developing a career in engineering. For example, we'd like to hear about an engineering project you've done at school or work, or a club you've been involved with in your spare time. You'll be keen to learn and develop and put your ideas to the test.

What you’ll get

  • A competitive salary, starting at £13,830 per year
  • A competitive pension and 33 days’ holiday per year (including bank holidays)
  • Exceptional career support from day one
  • Support towards a BEng Honours degree

Company

Rolls-Royce is a global company dedicated to delivering innovation in the air, on land and at sea. Our people are passionate about creating better products and services in the civil and defence aerospace, marine and nuclear markets. Together we’ve set land speed records, developed the world’s most efficient aero engine, designed industry leading eco-friendly ships and powered nuclear submarines.

Our world-class laboratories, state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities and fast-paced business teams are driven by engineering experts and experienced professionals. However, we don’t deliver best-in-class by relying solely on expertise. We recognise that we need to balance knowledge and rigour with fresh eyes, challenging ideas and novel ways of thinking. That’s why, every year, we hire hundreds of bright, ambitious and innovative interns, graduates, apprentices and school leavers.

We have graduate and intern opportunities in a broad array of Engineering, Operations and Business functions. We also provide a range of Modern or Advanced Apprenticeships, Higher Apprenticeships, Sponsored Degree and school leaver programmes that offer the chance to gain experience at work alongside qualifications at college or university.

Wherever you join – whether you’re engineering on the micron scale, launching new internal systems or scoping out commercial opportunities – we’ll expect you to pursue perfection. That means putting your drive and inventive streak to the test as you work on live projects while taking every chance to suggest improvements, share ideas and make a positive impact – on your team, on our products and on our global business.
