Job Details

Did you know that just one aero engine is made up of around 30,000 parts? 80% of these parts are bought from external suppliers by our procurement experts. But it’s not just engine parts - anything we can’t make ourselves, from IT, to training services, to new buildings, to catering services, to consumables – our Procurement teams negotiate, buy and manage it all.

You’ll be based in either our Bristol Defence or Derby Civil Aerospace team, and you’ll get involved in selecting suppliers, negotiating the best deals, agreeing contracts, and then making sure that the cost, quality and delivery time are all as agreed. Whether you’re helping purchase the parts for a highly efficient jet engine, a building, IT systems or training services, you’ll be learning every day. Once your apprenticeship has been completed, you could have the chance to move straight into a Buyer role, negotiating deals and managing our highly complex portfolio of suppliers. Later in your career, you might be working on setting our future buying strategy and delivering important cost saving opportunities.

The programme

Over 2.5 years you’ll learn to select suppliers, negotiate deals, agree contracts and deliver, whether it’s for jet engine parts, a building, IT systems or training services. You’ll learn from experts at the top of their game, while studying part time for a Level 4 Procurement Apprenticeship.

What you’ll do

Whether you’re helping purchase the parts for a highly efficient jet engine, a building, IT systems or training services, you’ll be learning on the job every day. At the completion of your apprenticeship, you could have the chance to move straight into a Buyer role, negotiating deals and managing our highly complex portfolio of suppliers. Later in your career, you might be working on setting our future buying strategy and delivering important cost-saving opportunities.

What you’ll need

You’ll have two A Levels (or equivalent) in any subject at a grade C, or alternatively a BTEC Level 3 in any subject with a minimum Pass grade. You’ll also need five or more GCSE’s including Maths and English Language at a grade C or equivalent.

You’ll also need strong communication, organisational and problem-solving skills. You’ll need to be an agile thinker who’s passionate about data and digital, and who loves working as part of a team in a fast-paced, innovative environment.

What you’ll get

  • A competitive salary
  • A competitive pension and 33 days’ holiday per year (including bank holidays)
  • Support from expert mentors and career coaches
  • A Level 4 Procurement Apprenticeship

Company

Rolls-Royce is a global company dedicated to delivering innovation in the air, on land and at sea. Our people are passionate about creating better products and services in the civil and defence aerospace, marine and nuclear markets. Together we’ve set land speed records, developed the world’s most efficient aero engine, designed industry leading eco-friendly ships and powered nuclear submarines.

Our world-class laboratories, state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities and fast-paced business teams are driven by engineering experts and experienced professionals. However, we don’t deliver best-in-class by relying solely on expertise. We recognise that we need to balance knowledge and rigour with fresh eyes, challenging ideas and novel ways of thinking. That’s why, every year, we hire hundreds of bright, ambitious and innovative interns, graduates, apprentices and school leavers.

We have graduate and intern opportunities in a broad array of Engineering, Operations and Business functions. We also provide a range of Modern or Advanced Apprenticeships, Higher Apprenticeships, Sponsored Degree and school leaver programmes that offer the chance to gain experience at work alongside qualifications at college or university.

Wherever you join – whether you’re engineering on the micron scale, launching new internal systems or scoping out commercial opportunities – we’ll expect you to pursue perfection. That means putting your drive and inventive streak to the test as you work on live projects while taking every chance to suggest improvements, share ideas and make a positive impact – on your team, on our products and on our global business.
