What will the apprentice be doing?
The successful candidates will be driving to various live projects around the country each day. They will learn the duties of a site engineer, which include: Establishing site control; Setting-up GPS base stations; Topographical surveying; Setting-out; Checking accuracy of our works; Stockpile quantification; Machine Control Checks and maintenance; Site QA and record keeping.
They will learn how to use automatic levels, rotating lasers, total stations and GPS rovers.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
The apprentice will be required to attend Nottingham College, Basford, typically one day per week. On completion of the course, the apprentice will gain a Level 4 (HNC) qualification in Construction and Built Environment.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
Subject to successful completion of their apprenticeship, a permanent Site Engineer position will be offered. You may then have the option to continue your studies with the prospect of an engineering degree (L6), as well as gaining professional accreditation with the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE).

Things to consider
The candidate must be prepared to travel substantial miles throughout the day to visit the different sites. The role is mainly working outside in all weathers, with the use of temporary site cabins. There will be times when heavy equipment will need carrying across sites.
