An excellent opportunity has arisen to join our Product Development Team as a hands-on Developer Apprentice, working with a diverse team of highly skilled on and offshore developers in the delivery of our commercial software products for the insurance industry - primarily the award-winning Financial Modelling Platform.

You will be joining a team with diverse skills and experience and the job requires a motivated individual who is experienced in taking responsibility and can independently deliver results on both departmental and business projects.

Your duties and responsibilities in this role will consist of:
  • Daily responsibilities will involve assisting the rest of the development team in gathering requirements, designing, developing and testing the necessary features of our online and desktop applications in line with our product roadmap
  • Adhering to the coding standards / development practices set out by the development team to ensure total product quality is maintained
  • Keeping up-to-date with the latest development best practices, and standards
  • Ongoing process of personal development - including formal R&D activities to support future initiatives
  • Capable of understanding and contributing to the technical solution from design through to code level
  • Working closely with product, project managers and business analysts to produce accurate delivery estimates and manage the transition from analysis through to design and delivery
  • Provide regular and effective progress updates to and work closely with project managers / development team manager to ensure the management / resolution of any delivery risks or issues
  • Contribute to the development and execution of industry standard testing frameworks, including but not limited to unit testing, functional testing, performance testing and environment testing
  • Participate in reviews and meetings and provide updates on project progress and contribute ideas for process improvement and / or issue resolution
  • Take responsibility for ensuring that risks and issues are identified and managed closely and drive all stakeholders to deliver on time and to the required quality standards
  • Work closely with relevant teams internally to ensure alignment and coordination across operations as part of the seamless implementation of existing and new systems
  • Contributing to post implementation reviews helping to demonstrate success or otherwise of projects
  • Develop into the primary "go to" person for customer queries (helpdesk)
  • Work on a wide range of projects involving the implementation of new and existing systems, solutions and processes

Desired qualifications

5 GCSEs grades A*-C/9-4 or equivalent (including English Language and Maths).
