To provide administrative support to Human Resources in all its activities. To assist the HR Executive, HR Managers and HR/Payroll Assistants, in the maintenance and development of the HR function throughout the organisation. In particular, to help to ensure that the appointment and ongoing employment of SDL staff complies with statutory requirements, internal policies and processes, current terms and conditions and wherever possible reflects best practice.

Recruitment and Selection
  • To process enquiries/correspondence re: job vacancies etc
  • To assist with the development/implementation of the HR/Payroll, establishing new processes and procedures and communicating these to managers and staff
  • To prepare personalised interview invitation letters/emails as required and arrange for relevant notifications, interview checklist and interview packs for panel members to be prepared

  • Employment Conditions
    • To ensure that the SDL's employee relations policies are implemented throughout theorganisation
    • To keep up to date and familiar with changes in employment legislation and changes in conditions of service and to offer advice accordingly
    • To update SDL's Conditions of Service and HR books and other manuals as required

    Employee Relations
    • To advise Centre's on employee relations matters generally and maintain an awareness of the formal and informal consultation processes that take place within the SDL, referring any problems or queries that may arise to theHR Executive, HR Managers and the Director of Finance as appropriate
    • To advise managers and staff on equalities issues and practices as required
    • In the absence of theHR Executive, HR Manager and HR/Payroll Assistants act as first point of contact for staff and others using initiative, discretion and judgement to identify the most appropriate course of action in individual circumstances

    Administration
    • To assist daily with the opening, distributing, collecting and dispatching of incoming and outgoing mail and to check daily the HR Inbox, application forms and payroll e-forms
    • To support Centre Administrators, on behalf of the SDL to each employee resigning from his/her post. To advise Payroll of each leaver and any monies owed or due to be recovered from them. Notify leavers to Business Development, Membership and Finance. Remind Managers to arrange staff exit interviews prior to their departure and report to their Facility Manager as appropriate

    Desired qualifications

    Maths and English at GCSE Grade C/4 or equivalents
