- To be an excellent role model for the children by demonstrating appropriate language and behaviour
- During induction training, to become familiar with all Fledglings policies and procedures and ensure that you adhere to them at all times
- To form strong and effective relationships with both children and parents during gradual admissions and room moves
- At the appropriate time - take responsibility for a key group of children ensuring that all children feel secure and receive consistent, high quality care
- To learn to reflect on practice, activities and routines, tailoring them to meet the individual needs of each child based on their stage of development
- To ensure that observations and planning for your Key Children are kept up to date and are of a high standard
- To be vigilant and protect children from harm or abuse by reporting concerns immediately, in accordance with child protection and whistleblowing policies
- To work in partnership with all parents/carers, building and maintaining relationships that engender trust, open communication and involvement in nursery life
- To respect and value all colleagues, children and parents, encouraging a positive, diverse working environment
- To work flexibly as part of the 'larger team' assisting and supporting colleagues when required
- To behave responsibly at all times both within and outside the workplace, to ensure that Fledglings reputation is maintained
- To attend reasonable out-of-working hours activities, including training, staff meetings, parents evenings and special events
- To take joint responsibility for the standard of cleanliness in the room and the nursery as a whole, reporting concerns if necessary
