The South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust serves an area of 10,000 square miles over seven counties, a total 20% of mainland England. When providing such an essential service to the public and covering such a large area it is important that our vehicles are maintained to the highest standards.

Due to staff relocation our busy Fleet maintenance department is currently looking for a highly skilled and experienced Motor Vehicle Technician to join the team. The role will mainly cover our Gloucestershire site in Gloucester to maintain our fleet of vehicles but support in our other workshops is sometime required.

Our workshops Technicians perform a vital and challenging but very rewarding role to support the ambulance service. This involves maintaining and repairing specialist vehicles and equipment to the highest standards while ensuring maximum levels of vehicle availability at all times

The successful candidate must have served a recognised Motor Vehicle Indentured apprenticeship or completed an equivalent training scheme and obtained City and Guilds Motor Vehicle Craft studies parts 1, 2 & 3 or Full Motor Vehicle Technicians qualification or BTEC/NVQ equivalents.

A full UK driving licence held for at least one year with a maximum of 3 points allowed for some offences and a category C1 is essential, but the trust can assist with obtaining this by agreement.

We offer a competitive salary up to £28,158 (including recruitment and retention payment) for a 37 ½ hour week plus overtime and excellent NHS benefits package. We offer additional and on-going training.

South Western Ambulance Service is an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from anyone who meets the relevant role requirements.
