About the apprenticeship

Duties

We are looking for an experienced hospitality manager to join our team at the national outdoor centre.

This is an outstanding opportunity to drive sales and help build the hospitality sector in one of the UK's National Outdoor Centres. The new Venue Manager will manage a busy
kitchen, a bar and the available rooms for Plas y Brenin to make sure that the service provided meets the first-class experience of our courses. This role will play a key role in
the leadership of a world-class sports venue ensuring sales reach and exceed targets, managing several teams and providing innovative ideas to improve the customer
experience.

A key aspect of this role will be to handle the customer experience from start to finish including the ability to liaise with corporate clients and the associated teams to create the best possible customer experience from the corporate or public point of view. The new Venue Manager will oversee the maintenance of the venue, the catering, the bar and the entire customer experience.
The ideal candidate will have experience running busy hospitality venues and will have a positive, can-do attitude that can resolve issues with ease. Strong leadership skills and
the ability to effectively communicate will be essential skills for the new Venue Manager.

Overseeing customer experience, beverage and food operations for events and individual guests.
Deliver a variety of fabulous food offerings ensuring our menu is bursting with a combination of feel-good
comfort foods, healthy options.
Managing all maintenance and repairs of the venue grounds, property, equipment, and facilities.
Collaborate with the commercial team on course bookings and events and liaising with clients to determine event requirements.
Managing staff and overseeing schedules to make sure all departments have enough employees to aid guests.
Oversee personnel including receptionists, catering, housekeeping, and the outsourced facility management
company on their routine maintenance activities.
To be responsible for the preparation of the department's payroll forecast on a weekly basis, controlling payroll in
line with budget.
Maintain operational standards to the highest possible level in respect of service, hygiene, health and safety.
Manage a range of service suppliers and contractors onsite ensuring robust procurement.
Support financial activities including establishing and aiding stock management, department budgets and management
Ensuring recruitment, training, development and staff management, including carrying out performance
reviews/job chats as per company procedure.
Operate guest laundry service efficiently and effectively.
Providing customer service and accommodating clients who need extra assistance
Managing departments and teams, provide and produce KPI's
Providing training on changes in services and to suggest and implement new ideas
To be part of the onsite rotational Duty Manager team
Scheduling and overseeing maintenance and repairs in individual rooms and common areas

Who can apply?

To be eligible to apply you:

  • will be at least 16 years of age at the time of making your application
  • will not be in full-time education (you can apply while still attending school/college/university but will have finished or intend to finish your studies by the time your apprenticeship starts)
  • will need to meet the Civil Service Nationality requirements to apply.

ALS eligibility

Please note that ALS our training providers have their own eligibility in order to provide the funding required to undertake an apprenticeship. You may not be eligible to apply if:

  • you already hold a qualification at Level 3 or above in ICT, Software, Web and Telecoms or a similar subject
  • you already hold a qualification at Level 3 or above in Business Administration, Customer Service or a similar subject

What are the benefits?  

How much will I be paid?

You will earn £19,240 a year while training. When you pass your apprenticeship you can apply for a permanent job at the Welsh Government. Within 2 years of starting your apprenticeship you could be earning £22,500. 

You will get 31 days holidays as well as 10 public and privilege days. We offer flexible working arrangements to help you get the right work/life balance. You will also be eligible for membership of the Civil Service Pension Scheme
