About the apprenticeship

Duties

Helping to manage the Front of House team in the absence of a site manager
Communicating with the kitchen on each and every shift, taking responsibility for services.
Involvement in financial aspects of cash-ups, stocktaking and looking at P&Ls
Taking reservations and learning the techniques required to operate Resdiary and Hotel Perfect our booking systems for rooms and restaurant
Knowledge of Housekeeping
Knowledge of operating the bar & Beverage side with an emphasis on Wine

Additional information

We will help with wine training with inhouse skills and also offer WSET awards up to the Diploma for those who have an interest in it.
Cellar Training will be provided.
You will be trained in using our EPOS systems and in day to day operations.
We will have you move through all different section of the hotel so our office, our Housekeeping teams, our Front of House Team and also some time within the Kitchen Team.

Skills

You will want to operate at a high level within the hospitality industry.
You will be able to operate within a close knit team but will be also able to operate on your own using your initiative and those skills that you will already have in managing to achieve the standards required to undertake a level 4 apprenticeship.
Being active and interested is vital.
As ever being well presented, punctual and trustworthy are essential qualities.

Being able to apply to undertake Level 4 Apprenticeship in Hospitality Management is essential.

Who can apply?

To be eligible to apply you:

  • will be at least 16 years of age at the time of making your application
  • will not be in full-time education (you can apply while still attending school/college/university but will have finished or intend to finish your studies by the time your apprenticeship starts)
  • will need to meet the Civil Service Nationality requirements to apply.

ALS eligibility

Please note that ALS our training providers have their own eligibility in order to provide the funding required to undertake an apprenticeship. You may not be eligible to apply if:

  • you already hold a qualification at Level 3 or above in ICT, Software, Web and Telecoms or a similar subject
  • you already hold a qualification at Level 3 or above in Business Administration, Customer Service or a similar subject

What are the benefits?  

How much will I be paid?

You will earn £19,240 a year while training. When you pass your apprenticeship you can apply for a permanent job at the Welsh Government. Within 2 years of starting your apprenticeship you could be earning £22,500. 

You will get 31 days holidays as well as 10 public and privilege days. We offer flexible working arrangements to help you get the right work/life balance. You will also be eligible for membership of the Civil Service Pension Scheme
