The Early Careers team sits in the BioPharma Research & Development (R&D) organisation and supports all the centrally-run early talent programmes in AstraZeneca R&D, including the global programme for post-doctoral researchers, the global graduate programme and AstraZeneca’s UK-wide apprenticeship programme

The team are responsible for the attraction, governance and development of these early career programmes, ensuring they are best in class and attract a wide variety of talent onto the programmes.   Working with the business to ensure that the opportunities these programmes provide support the development needed for entry level roles and the personal development of the individual. 

The ideal candidate will support, both the Apprenticeship, Graduate and PostDoc programmes, by providing a wide range of computer-based creative/design/illustrative services to support the organisation:

  • Research to establish trends/strategy and present proposals for creative content to be developed across a wide variety of digital platforms
  • Raising awareness and increasing our social media presence across all platforms through various marketing initiatives to promote the programmes
  • Develop internal/external communications, together with the creation of relevant materials
  • Review, create content and provide updates for the externally facing careers pages
  • Review, create content and provide updates for the internally facing Nucleus pages
  • Use your editing and content management skills to write and edit content for websites, blogs, videos, social media campaigns
  • Build a library of digital content to support programme promotion
  • Event management

The apprenticeship combines working, earning a full-time salary, with fully funded part-time learning (on average 1 day/week). This will give you the opportunity to gain a level 3 qualification, just as you would if you studied full-time, with the advantage of gaining relevant work-life skills and the excitement of helping to develop new medicines whilst taking your first steps towards a rewarding career.

Skills and Capabilities

We would be looking for the following attributes from our successful applicants:

  • Enthusiastic individuals who are keen to learn and with a genuine curiosity
  • Able to act independently but also to work and contribute in a team environment
  • Good organisational skills with an excellent attention to detail
  • The ability to work on multiple tasks and understanding how to prioritise
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • A proactive approach to problem solving
  • A creative approach and an interest in social media awareness, digital creation of content, including image and video creation
  • You will have social media experience, in particular with exciting platforms such as TikTok, Instagram etc
  • Experience with Microsoft Powerpoint.
  • Some experience with Adobe Creative Suite specifically Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere, Lightroom and Acrobat.
  • Familiarisation with cloud storage systems and document management systems

Entry Requirements

Five GCSEs (or equivalent) grades  9 to 4

To have achieved or predicted to achieve a minimum of 1 A level or equivalent at Grade C

This is a 18-month fixed term contract opportunity based at Granta Park, Cambridge with a starting base salary of £16,000 + 11% benefits fund + bonus.
