You will form part of the wider Safety Health and Environment (SHE) function and help in devising safety advice to Cambridge Operations and other stakeholders, assist the aligned advisors and other staff members for various sites and provide administrative assistance for various SHE projects.  In this process you will be expected to continue with your professional development, progress with training and develop your skills towards advising either in at least one area of Scientific  or General Safety or Environment. Based at Cambridge but will cover areas beyond Cambridge e.g. London and the North West if necessary

Training and Development

AstraZeneca will sponsor you through your MSc Safety & Risk Management at Compass Skills Training Ltd. In partnership with Heriot-Watt University

The apprenticeship combines working, earning a full-time salary, with fully funded part-time university earning (on average 1 day/week). This will give you the opportunity to gain aMSc Safety & Risk Management qualification, just as you would if you went to university  full-time, with the advantage of gaining relevant work-life skills and the excitement of helping to develop new medicines whilst taking your first steps towards a rewarding career.

Skills and Capabilities

We would be looking for the following attributes from our successful applicants:

  • Enthusiastic individuals who are keen to learn and with a genuine curiosity in the application of mind to improve the safety of our workforce.
  • Able to act independently but also to work and contribute in a team environment
  • Good organisational skills with an excellent attention to detail
  • The ability to work on multiple tasks and understanding how to prioritise
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • A proactive approach to problem solving

Entry Requirements

To have already achieved a relevant science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM) bachelor degree or equivalent.

This is a three and half/ four and a half* -year fixed term contract opportunity based at Cambridge with a starting base salary of £31,757} + 11% benefits fund + bonus. *if includes foundation year

Successful candidates will be asked to attend a virtual Assessment day on 13th April 2022
