Find your niche –discover and explore your passions

Whatever your background, our Early Talent Programmes offer a huge amount of opportunity to explore, learn and develop in different functions across our business. Whether through rotations or in your specific area, you’ll be empowered and challenged to expand your knowledge and grow your skillset to set yourself up for future success.

So whether you have a passion you want to pursue, or are still figuring it out, there’s endless opportunity to experience new things, and learn from people with diverse perspectives from across our business to discover what truly inspires and motivates you.

AstraZeneca is currently on an exciting digital journey to enter the next phase of the digital world and becoming a Smart Factory. On this journey we are now looking for key talent to help realise our vision and lead along the way.

UK Operations is the second largest manufacturing site in the Astrazeneca network and here we thrive in a high-tech and LEAN-based environment where we value collaboration and smart solutions that support our business needs. As a Digital Lighthouse site we launch new technologies in collaboration with IT to support our key process areas as we move towards our Factory of the future vision.

We need great people who share our passion for technology led science, are driven, determined and hard-working. In return, we will support your formal and ‘on the job’ development, making the most of your skills and passion to help you in reaching your ultimate career aspirations

Our apprenticeship programme is designed to give you a broad understanding of our UK Operation functions alongside being involved in a variety of critical Digital activities and projects we are delivering to the business across key functional areas (Production, Warehousing, Supply Chain, Quality, Data, Planning).

During this 4-year programme, you will have the opportunity to complete several 12-month rotations in different areas of our site, in line with your interests, skills, knowledge and experience – to help you decide which career pathway you would like to take.

Throughout your apprenticeship with us you will have the opportunity to carry out some of the following roles:

  • Digital Project Manager
  • Data Analyst
  • Business Analyst
  • Process Mining Analyst
  • User Experience Researcher
  • Innovation Design Analyst

So, in one rotation, you could be a Business Analyst, gathering requirements from our Production representatives, who are working on an equipment improvement project; you may then work with different parts of Operations to see how we meet their requirements. On another rotation, as a Digital Project Manager you could be working with our IT team implementing a technology solution to improve the Supply Chain Process.

Whichever role you perform, you will:

  • Build knowledge of UK Operations area & the customer area(s) you are working with
  • Have an important, contributing role in the team
  • Have support from your line manager, your mentor and your buddy to help you deliver at your best
  • Drive your own development, through formal learning and/or experience
  • Have the opportunity to build core skills, such as presenting, influencing, stakeholder engagement & management etc.
  • Maintain a strong peer network with your fellow apprentices & our other Early Talent employees
  • Have the opportunity to get involved in activities that benefit society and our local areas, such as charity fundraising, helping school leavers decide on their next steps, building exposure of technology to students etc.
  • Benefit from working in diverse, global company where we value and embrace the advantage true diversity can bring to a workplace…you may even get the opportunity to visit your colleagues in other countries

Training and Development

AstraZeneca will sponsor you through your Bachelor of Science Degree in Digital & Technology Solutions at BPP.

The apprenticeship combines working, earning a full-time salary, with fully funded part-time University (on average 1 day/week). This will give you the opportunity to gain a full qualification, just as you would if you went to University full-time, with the advantage of gaining relevant work-life skills

and the excitement of helping to develop new medicines whilst taking your first steps towards a rewarding career.

We truly value Early Talent– their thoughts, ideas and contributions. So throughout the programme, you’ll be encouraged and inspired to speak up, have a voice and make an impact.
