The Engineering Apprenticeship programme is designed to build the engineering technicians and engineers of the future! Engineering apprentices play a hugely important role at AstraZeneca, solving challenges that arise from some of the most advanced equipment in the industry. As an engineering apprentice, you'll be required to maintain complex equipment and ensure that high standards are adhered to for safety, manufacturing quality and documentation.

Under supervision the role holder will work on:

  • Electrical and / or mechanical planned, unplanned maintenance, and process automation support activities.
  • Performing unplanned equipment repairs and complete planned maintenance activities as per the schedule
  • Trouble shooting problems in the event of mechanical and / or electrical failure of equipment and must be able to recommend parts needed for the effective repair of equipment to deliver a timely response to support manufacturing.

In addition to the valuable working experience you'll have the opportunity to study towards professional qualifications, including a BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Engineering https://www.instituteforapprenticeships.org/apprenticeship-standards/engineering-technician/ via our training provider – TTE. 

The first 2 years of your training will be at the TTE Training facility in Ellesmere Port

Site working hours – (08:00-16:45 Mon-Thurs, 08:00-13:00 Fri), totalling 37.5 hours per week.  College hours to be advised by the college on enrolment

Entry Requirements:

Will possess a minimum of 5 GCSEs at grades 9 - 4, which must include Maths, English and a Science subject, or Level 2 qualification in an Engineering related subject

This is a 4 year Fixed Term Contract opportunity based at our Speke site, offering £16,000 starting base salary + 11% benefits fund + bonus.

Successful candidates will be notified after the closing date and will be asked to attend a virtual Assessment day on 6th April 2022

Start date for the apprenticeship programme is 5th September 2022
