Key accountabilities:
  • Management of the site's software library and technical approver for all change requests as per the "management of change" process
  • Monitor and modify existing process control systems and PLC codes to optimise operational performance
  • Provide technical support to the maintenance technicians as coach/mentor allocated individuals to increase site knowledge on automation systems
  • Review all shift based automation interventions to ensure consistency and compliance with site standards
  • Manage site software licences
  • Deputy for site electrical responsible person
  • Support capital projects

Desired qualifications

Applicants must already be employed in a suitable engineering role or have relevant engineering experience.

In addition, you will need one of the following:
  • A minimum of two A-Levels at grade C or above, including a mathematical based subject and a science, technology, engineering or an additional mathematics-related subject
  • An Engineering BTEC Level 3 with at least 120 credits at MM (merit merit) level
  • An EAL Diploma in an Engineering-based subject at merit or above

Equivalent qualifications such as Technical Levels at MM or above.

Applicants are also required to undertake a series of assessments at the AMRC Training Centre before being offered a place on an apprenticeship.

Completion of this apprenticeship is just the start of your career and can open the door to many more opportunities, such as Engineering Management and Project Engineering positions across a range of sectors.

Things to consider

  • During the first year you will be required to attend the University of Sheffield AMRC Training Centre in Sheffield, full time for an initial block of study
  • One Friday per month you will return to your workplace
  • After the initial block training you will attend the AMRC Training Centre for one day a week to undertake the knowledge study
  • The remaining four days will be spent in company learning on the job
  • Ideally applicants will already be employed in a suitable engineering role or have previous relevant engineering experience

For this vacancy, due to the location of this post,candidate's must be able to travel to work on time due to the office being based in a rural location with limited public transport
